ZL8X in the Kermadec Islands is drawing quite a crowd. His frequency is noted by marker "B" the sub receiver (far left). Note that as he transmits the pile-up mostly stops :) I was holding the camera or I would of moved marker "A" my transmitter to the frequency of the last person he talked to visually identified as a blip on the display.

Lace Monitors or Goannas are one of Australia's largest lizards. They have strong claws and powerful legs. They are dark grey to black in colour with cream or yellow scales forming bands and blotches. There are usually black bars across the snout, throat and chin. The tongue is long and forked like a snake . Monitors are the only lizards that have a forked tongue.

I believe the Mama Gray Catbird is looking at the eggs here. It was so hot that day. I noticed she was off and on the nest throughout the day, visiting the birdbaths often.

Nice monitor. Too bad it isn't mine, but the coke to the right is!

My rooftop anemometer and receding storm clouds at sunset. Widespread monsoon thunderstorms have been rumbling all across Arizona for the last several days, dumping significant rainfall and causing serious flash floods in some places. Unfortunately and all too typically, the rain continues to completely avoid my dusty rain gauge, where only a few sprinkles have fallen so far. Nonetheless, the monsoon skies do make for some great sunset photo ops - Weather Station ZD1, Phoenix, Arizona

An unusual delicacy from the highlands around Bandung is monitor lizard satay - served in a deliciously rich, spicy sauce.

I had to try it while on assignment in Bandung recently.

From Ashy to Classy.

We had to check out of Excalibur at 11 today, so we got up bright and early and moved our stuff to Danny, Ty, Peter, & Kelly's room at the new Aria. It is easily the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in (5 star). The entire room is controlled by this little touch-screen computer (seen above). It does everything from lighting to the window shades to the tv. AND we had an awesome view of the strip.

We grabbed Pink's for lunch and then headed to Paris to grab the Eiffel Tower shaped cups of Margaritas & Pina Coladas. We had planned on chilling at the beach today, but it was way too cold so we hung out in the room for the afternoon, playing cards and watching Sportscenter.

LMU's second game was against San Fransisco, a team who had beaten us twice in the regular season. We handled them pretty easily.

After the game, Nick, Danny, Kelly, & I headed to MGM Grand to see David Copperfield. Kelly has several connections in Las Vegas (because of his website, hackcollege.com) and that got us free tickets. We were surprised when we arrived to learn that they were front row seats ($110 to buy) and that Nick would be going on stage to help with a trick. The show was pretty amazing, and I definitely want to go to more shows in Las Vegas. I'd really like to see O by Cirque De Solei next time I have the chance.

I took it easy afterwards and went straight to bed. I am not looking forward to getting back to LA tomorrow after midnight!

Need to keep up with how children, workforce or lovers are using their cellphones? Fresh software programs capture and archive SMS text messages, trace mobile phone GPS location, sent and received mobile phone call logs information and send it to a web personal account.

Monitoring Software is a common means for Parents and Employers to take responsibilty. Monitoring of Computer and Smartphones is Widespread. It is standard practice to use monitoring software.. Spy Software (not bad) and Spyware (bad) are definitely not the same thing. Spyware is really a broad group of possibly harmful software that can implant itself on cell phones, usually arriving from internet connections.

Explanations rely on usage and intention of spyphone software programs rather than a technological standard. Spy is not a bad word. Spy software programs are a phrase frequently accustomed to explain harmful software program or perhaps a phrase mistakenly connected with a keylogger. Software programs offered here is a lot more than this and really should not be placed in the exact same class. Spyware, per se, can be usually intended to intercept partial control over laptop or computer or cell phone functioning without having authorization from the device's user.

Whether it is simply to get a basic idea of what's going on, or perhaps to cope with more severe problems, technology is a valuable tool for families or organizations. Parents or guardians possess legal and moral responsibilities to monitor and track cell phones and understand how they are getting used, or misused. Many people are acquainted with the issues and dangers related to computers and the web. Smartphones are just like computers, however possess a lot more dangers due to their convenience, sophisticated communications, and the user's sense of autonomy.

A lot of people might include spy in terms used to describe legitimate monitoring of mobile phones. There are numerous legitimate justifications to Track Cell Phone Location and communications content. If the monitoring is justified then probably the term spy is benign, and does not signify malignant intent. www.track-phone.net/monitor/

Yet another silly gadget for the home, I should probably have gone for the better featured Dr Wattson power monitor but the OWL was a hell of a lot cheaper. The usual OWL is a sensor on the meter with a transmitter which is picked up by the display units built in receiver. Shows how much power is being used, how much it's costing etc... The OWL USB Connect allows you to monitor the power usage over time on any usb equipped windows PC. Pretty nice all in all though the interface is very very basic, I'd like it better if it could track the usage historically over a much longer period of time. Hopefully there's a software update in the works... the API has been released too so maybe third party software and linux support too!

Y no sabemos si será...

He especially liked to be completely closed in the box, with a flashlight. Sounds like a nightmare to me, what with my claustrophobia. Thankfully the lad isn't nearly as neurotic as his mother. Yet.

A water monitor leaves the water and goes off into an open drain leading into the water (eeeew!). Look at the amount of human generated junk the poor animal has to contend with! This pic was taken from the boat during our ride into the mangroves at Balapitiya near Galle. (Balapitiya, Sri Lanka, June 2011).
