German Leather Inflation Money
..
At the end of WW I Germany experienced the most devastating inflation in all history. In 1921 at the height of the escalating inflation, the German mark was trading at 1,000,000 per American doller and it cost almost a trillion marks to buy a loaf of bread. In its attempt to halt the mark's spiraling devaluation, the German government printed bills of higher and higher denominations, and started to use virtually anything to print them on. The sample of inflation money here is printed on leather.
