Mondovì (Italian pronunciation: [mondoˈvi]; Latin: Mons Regalis) is a town and comune (township) in Piedmont, northern Italy, about 80 kilometres from Turin. The area around it is known as the Monregalese.
The town, located on the Monte Regale hill, is divided into several rioni (ancient quarters): Piazza (the most ancient), Breo, Pian della Valle, Carassone, Altipiano, Borgato and Rinchiuso, lower, next to the Ellero stream, developed from the 18th century when industries developed in Mondovì and when it was reached by the railway.

in quella panetteria consiglio i rubatà !
I rubatà (o robatà, ma sempre pronunciato come il primo) sono uno dei due tipi di grissino nati secoli fa in Piemonte. Il termine "rubatà" in piemontese significa "caduto", "ruzzolato" ed è probabilmente riferito al gesto che il fornaio compie lasciando cadere le strisce di pasta sul tavolo dove saranno arrotolate.
Si tratta di bastoncini di pasta di pane dalla forma irregolare, lavorata con compressione manuale sul tavolo di lavoro in modo da assumere una forma allungata, dai 30 ai 60 cm. Sono prodotti quindi per arrotolamento, tutto rigorosamente a mano.
(Il termine rubatà potrebbe anche derivare da "robat", attrezzo agricolo d'un tempo, munito di un grosso cilindro di legno che, trainato sul terreno lavorato, lo spianava per compressione.)
La ricchezza di gusto dei grissini si spiega facilmente con l'alta superficie esposta a cottura, e quindi soggetta alle trasformazioni degli amidi che portano a composti bruni e profumati.

Rione Piazza
Posto sulla collina a ridosso della parte bassa del concentrico cittadino, il rione di Piazza è il più antico di Mondovì, e rappresenta sicuramente la parte più interessante da visitare: un salotto elegante che domina dall’alto tutta la città.
Anticamente era il centro nevralgico delle comunità circostanti, in quanto sede del Duomo, del Palazzo di Città e di quello del Governatore e ancora oggi Piazza è un paese nel paese, con il suo dedalo di vie e vicoli, piazze nascoste e saliscendi che conducono ad angoli suggestivi.
Fino a pochi anni fa erano a Piazza anche l’ospedale cittadino e numerose scuole e collegi; i suoi abitanti si sono sempre sentiti un po’ separati dal resto di Mondovì, abitando in una sorta di microcosmo autonomo. Ma piano piano si sta spopolando e perdendo molte peculiarità ...

I took this just a few blocks from Marten's terminal (Marten is the trucking company I drive for.) in Mondovi, Wisconsin. Got a new truck while I was there. Drove to Nashvhville Tennessee, Dallas, then Huston Texas and now back north, about 45 miles south of Minneapolis. The temperature is -4 Fahrenheit (-20 Celsius) and even with my heater running it's a bit cold inside my truck. Luckily I have two wool Pendleton blankets to keep me from freezing to death. At least that's what I hope. I'm so ready to head back west, screw this arctic weather.

the Mondovì funicular was built in 1886 to connect the modern district of Breo with the ancient village of Piazza
Serie dedicata a Matilde e Gabri che le adorano.
Su invito di Matilde ho cercato nei cassetti e ne ho trovata qualcuna di Mondovì, comincio da questa che si trova in Piazza San Pietro.
Cara Matilde, va bene per il gruppo anche se è ripresa un po' da lontano ?

The Sanctuary of Regina Monte Reale Basilica in Vicoforte Mondovi- Cuneo, Italy.
The vast pictorial surface area of the dome covers 6032 square metres and is the biggest of this type in existence.
Am Südrand des zentralen Piazza Maggiore steht dieser Wandpfeilerbau der den Jesuiten bis 1773 als Missionskirche diente.
Interessant sind die Fresken, welche von Andrea Pozzo 1676 - 77 erstellt wurden. Es ist ein Jugendwerk des Trentiner Freskanten und gleichzeitig sein Letztes bevor er nach Rom abberufen wurde. Die Kirche war eine Art „Versuchslabor“ für den innovativen Stil des Barockkünstlers und späteren Theoretiker der illusionistischen Malerei. Das Ergebnis war derart überzeugend, dass es dem Maler zu großer Bekanntheit verhalf und ihm Aufträge für die Mitarbeit bei bedeutenden Projekten in ganz Italien und im Ausland einbrachte. In dieser Jesuitenkirche gelang Andrea Pozzo bis dahin etwas wirklich Einzigartiges: er schuf durch die gekonnte Ausnutzung der Perspektive eine optische Täuschung, die das Tonnengewölbe (mittig zwischen den 2 Fenstern) in eine eindrucksvolle, achteckige Scheinkuppel verwandelte und somit den Innenraum der Kirche optisch stark erweiterte.

Die ursprüngliche 5-schiffige gotische Bettelordenkirche wurde im Zuge der Erbauung der Zitadelle Ende des 15. Jhs abgerissen und 1543 unter weitestgehender Beibehaltung der Fundamente als barocker Neubau aufgerichtet. Die Bauleitung hatte der Einheimische Architekt Francesco Gallo.
Die Vollendung erlebte Gallo jedoch nicht. Benedetto Alfieri konnte als später Nachfolger den Bau 1763 vollenden.
Enrico Gonin und Andrea Viani erbrachten die Malereien und die Vergoldungen.
Festa popolare di origine celtica, oggi tipica degli Stati Uniti e del Canada, che si celebra la notte tra il 31 ottobre e il 1° novembre con scherzi e travestimenti macabri e portando in processione zucche intagliate e illuminate all'interno.
Ma la "moda" ha invaso anche l'Italia :)
