An experiment with Modulex. Hope you like it!

Deep under the sands of the sunny desert, in the shadows of the ruins of the Templar church, they found what had stimulated the imagination of every explorer for centuries - the Holy Grail. Their joy, however, did not last very long. Those they considered comrades turned out to be traitors...

This is my entry for Summer Joust 2024 in Into the Middle East category.

The donkey design by Felix Jaensch, which I took the liberty of modifying slightly.

Hello everyone, my newest MOC is done! It's my entry for the 12x12 category from the @summerjoustofficial contest and of course another challenge for my build- and edit skills.

I hope you like it, and make sure to follow TomStuds for more of these builds! Thanks for checking out and feel free to share! :D

The Mult-Purpose Terrain Rover is usually deployed by thruster-drones on planets with a deadly/no atmosphere. The crew of three can live several weeks in the rover while scouting the terrain and prospecting the surface.

My entry for the second round of Rogue Olympics 2025. The theme was "Oops!", and the restriction, as ever, is to only use 101 pieces. I used 97 here.

I had lots of fun playing around with different systems; Duplo, Modulex and there's even a hint of Bionicle in there!

I was inspired by FS Leinad's excellent photo in using the Duplo.

Finally, it should be fairly obvious to any fellow builders what moment I've captured here. I know it's one that's happened to me once too often.😅

Clever Little Babies

Your never too young to start creating with the brick (The babies are using Modulex for their wonderful little name check)

I still get inspired by the Train Prism :D

So here is another small ship. Inspired by artwork by John Wallin Liberto.

Ever since I blogged the instructions for Hoang Dang's red LEGO air compressor on The Brothers Brick , I have had this silly idea stuck in my head.

Finally I built the compressor this weekend and I now have the series of images out of my system haha!

Thanks to Hoang Dang for sharing the

instructions to his cute air compressor :-)

Ted takes some time off to play with his LEGO bricks.

Yes those small bricks were in fact made by LEGO! They are Modulex, made in the 60's and 70's for architects. They are a great size for minifigs to play with too :-) I was lucky enough to buy some this year at BrickMagic!

As anticipated on IG I will publish all the vehicles of my diorama Street racers' haunt in detail. I thought of contextualizing to present them.

Do you want a Coke, sweetheart?

That's my first scene to show the Roadster Hot Rod with a young couple sharing a drink.

The first time I try to use Modulex! On wall in the background, exposed bricks on the gray wall are smooth Modulex. Thanks to an old tutorial by Ralf Langer

Got a rust problem? A leaking gas tank? Want your motor inspected? Or simply take a short break while filling up your bike?

Ben’s Garage is the address you’ve been looking for! Always happy to help and surely the cheapest gasoline around!

——

It was an interesting change of topic when I recently decided to build an old Ford tow truck. I’m not much of a car builder so there’s always a bit of a barrier when its about wheels.

Soon I added a small garage, then a classic motorbike and it quickly evolved into the gas station you can see above – all clearly inspired by my friends César and Sanel who posted two equally stunning takes on the same topic not too long ago. After staring at their models for way longer than I’d like to admit I simply had to try something in the same theme :)

This one is for Ben, one of the trusting mechanics in my life. If only his garage was a bit closer to home.. Stay strong and see you soon!

Likes to get in close on large groups of foes

(Basically a smaller version of the Three-Armed Sloth I made a decade ago)

Got a bit inspired by all the crabs that suddenly entered my feed 😂

ME!

Thanks to Vidgamer838 for the fantastically accurate torso decal: i181.photobucket.com/albums/x222/sirnadroj/IMG_6883.jpg

And another thanks to Yokomode01 for the Modulex bricks! =-D

The magic machine that makes all of the things we love.

Built for #RogueBricks' 101 piece contest - week 5 - Real life objects.

I couldn't decide what to make, so I'll make the thing that makes ALL THE THINGS.

My entry for the Micro Sci-Fi contest on EB.

Plows through the battle like a tank, stopping for nothing.

Smallest legitimate SHIP ever?

This was a pain to photograph, obviously. I think my camera's getting old too...

Just a fun little build. This started out as something entirely different (spaceship) but it looks too much like a cool building to not use it as that.

Let's burn some tires!

A classic burnout in the empty parking lot of backside of a brick building (lots of Modulex).

As always thanks to techniques shown by Ralf Langer

Hey Max, let's start maintenance work!

In an old garage a mechanic is working on a chopper motorcycle for maintenance. The faithful red cat Max look at him curiously, radio tuned on classics, sounds blues songs.

I have still inserted a couple of Modulex bricks as small parts boxes.

The wooden walls of the garage are built with a technique shared by Ralf Langer, thanks and credits to him!

Made this today for the summer joust 12x12 category and I begun 12 o clock :-). Didn't even had name for it yet

Greeble De Mayo 2021 - Cyberpunk (8x8)

I wanted to see if I could make a really small but detailed cityscape, and yet still make it ambiguos enough to also make it look like just a greebly surface on some high tech circuit board.

This is built from a mix of Modulex and System, lit from below. I think it works pretty well! I can imagine this growing to a larger city display, if you have enough Modulex. 😁

This was made a few weeks ago but I was waiting for some modulex. Today I was able to get some and took some quick shots of the MOC.

It represents a kid's room, based on my own childhood room, with some doodles hanged on the walls, lots of toys, lots of LEGO on the floor, lots of comics and a real mess :)

My favorite parts are the mini Imperial Shuttle and the flowers pot hanged next to the window. What's yours (if any!)? :)

Hope you like it!

A steampunk scene, made for the 2018 speeder bike contest.

A Modell of an earthquake. Made entirely of Lego.

First tutorials are out now:

A tree crashed on my father's house several weeks ago. As I wanted to do some more twisted stuff I added this earthquake scenario.

I wanted to do something a bit more gloomy and realistic than usual, though realism wasn't my main goal at all. In fact, I had to remove many realistic details (traffic signs, street lamps, some trash cans) because it got to stuffed.

It is supposed to be in Germany. Maybe it could be some other european city as well. The modell contains a range of architectural styles seen here quite often.

The white house in the center seems to be some of those ugly buildings, that where done in the 50s after the war.

And yes, I created it ugly by will not by faillure.

The building at the right edge is a bit unusal. Has to be something thats called "Historismus".

I made some really bad decisions during the build that increased the building time dramatically. With a few changes I could have saved many days.

As far as I can remember I got conciously inspired by:

Markus Rollbühler - I wouldn't have discovered the technique chains without you also thanks for critical advise!

Emil Lidé - I studied the way you use leaves in detail

brick surgeon - after I have seen one of your mocs I instantely bought minifg hands. I own you the roots here :-)

tryout with Modulex Bricks

While workin on the other speeders for LSB-21, I couldn't help building a smaller version for one of the babies...

Semi-quick build for the LOM September UC. The build will also later be used for my PTV (small) entry on eurobricks, with a few minor changes.

Enjoy!

Can you find the 1x1 modulex tile in this moc?

A LEGO modulex take on the Classic Castle set 375.

When I wrote this article for New Elementary (www.newelementary.com/2020/02/4171-train-light-prism-1x3....) I wanted to include some new MOCs using the 4171 Train Light Prism in at least one way I hadn’t done before. So I decided to build a house.

I also wanted to combine the prism with Modulex to show off the similarities in dimensions.

So, the result is this cyberpunk-ish corner house. There’s some clikits there as well.

Read the article for details on how it was built!

Hides in the shadows and strikes mercilessly

Good Morning Moneypenny.

For some reason I always see these Modulex 'Minifigures' as 007 James Bond and Miss Moneypenny lol.

Bit random.

Part 3 in a series of 3. For my graphic design class :]

The assignment was to create three "travel" posters for the year 1929. I had so much fun building this one, though it did take up my entire weekend...

Also, that bridge was the first time I've ever used brick paper. I overlayed a transparency of my reference image on the plate grid in PS Elements, to get the curve approximately right.

Setup shot

My first Larger than Minifigure scale moc! I thought I would change it up a little more. This is just a quick build with some tan cat tails I picked up at brickfair. I got the rug pattern idea from Katie Walker. I think I'm going to try some more stuff in this scale. What do you guys think?

So here is the first (of quite a few...haha!) of the builds I made for the awesome blog New Elementary. The build is based around using the new rim piece from the Harley Davidson set, which actually had a surprisingly large amount of different uses. Stay tuned for more as I'll be posting these for the next couple of weeks probably. And make sure you check out the blog if you haven't already done that. Thanks for looking :)

Oh, and a bonus point to the first one that points out the "odd" piece I snuck in there ;)

Protected under thick armor and armed with explosive charges for breaching enemy structures

I still get inspired by the Train Prism :D

So here is another small ship. Inspired by artwork by John Wallin Liberto.

My entry for Swebrick Brick Challenge Dec-21 (The grey ski)

The second installment of my Uncharted: Among Thieves build series.

After learning of a treasure within reach, Drake teams up with partners Chloe and Flynn. Intending to steal their first clue, the trio attempt to infiltrate a museum in Istanbul

Trying to branch out further from my normal digital builds, I decided to really focus on structure for this installment. And taking a cue from the uber-talented builder https://www.flickr.com/photos/154489981@N04, I incorporated a recent shipment of Modulex I received. I also played around with photo lighting and editing for ages, and I'm quite happy with the results :)

Bionicle and Castle. Two themes that should never meet, and yet here we are…

Welcome to the Big Bioni-Castle Contest! (Well, it’s not that big, I just like how it sounds)

What does a Bionicle-Castle MOC mean to you? Build it and enter it in before November 15th 11:59 PM (PT) and we’ll see what your sick twisted minds come up with!

Of course, a contest wouldn’t be much of a contest without prizes, which are as follows:

The Grand Ultimate Bioni-Castle Builder:

Chosen by yours truly, the winner of this award will win a sealed 8697 Toa Ignika, a sealed 8791 Sir Danju (Knights Kingdom), a NYCC Trans-clear hau, and a 2019 $20 USD set of their choice.

Bionicle Builders Choice

Chosen by Cezium (Renowned Bionicle builder and skeleton enthusiast), the winner of this award will win a sealed 8911 Toa Mahri Jaller and a 2019 $20 USD set of their choice.

Castle Builders Choice

Chosen by Grant Davis (famed castle MOCist, system MOCist and co-creator of the pop-up book ideas project), the winner of this award will win a sealed 8778 Knights Kingdom Border Ambush and a 2019 $20 USD set of their choice.

How to enter:

To enter on Flickr, just tag me in the photo and include the tag 'bionicastlecontest'

To enter on Instagram, tag me in the photo (@thesecretwalrus) and include the hashtag #bionicastlecontest

To enter on Twitter, @ me in the tweet (@trulynotawalrus) and include the hashtag #bionicastlecontest

A few rules:

This contest is International!

There are no restrictions on Bionicle and System part usage! Bionicastle is more of a suggestion than a strict adherence anyway.

Digital builds are allowed, however, you can’t exploit no-clipping and you may not use any parts that don’t currently exist physically in that colour (so no pink mixel joints, I’ll be watching)

Custom or bootleg pieces are not allowed, however you can still use anything produced by Lego, so go crazy with that Znap and Modulex if your heart desires.

The build must be new, so you may not enter anything shared publicly before the date the contest went live.

You may enter as many entries as you like! However, only one entry per contestant will be chosen as the winning entry if it wins. I would advise spending your time on one entry rather than spreading your efforts over multiple.

Deadline is November 15th, 11:59 PM Pacific Time. There won’t be extensions but 6 weeks should hopefully be plenty of time for you to get your entry in!

Once the winners are announced I will contact them asap for shipping details.

Judging is expected to take about a week however this may vary, so please be patient if they are not out within a week!

Good luck and have fun!

Hi everyone! Tried to build BrickLink Stud.io, for Rogue Olymics Round 2: "The Internet";)

hello, this is the second part of Memories of Lecco ,in this moc I used Duplo, Fabuland, Homemaker, Modulex and Scala pieces. The mototcycle is not my work but a gift from Sanel Lukovic after the convention in Zagreb ,thanks and ciao .Dario

Tell me what you favourite door is.

Some nice Lego Doors I had used in my last MOC and how to build them.

The style ranges maybe from 1900 to 1960.

The Reckless is a Frontline Supply Ship designed for fast cargo delivery in fleet combat situations. It is named after a decorated veteran war horse who tirelessly delivered supplies and wounded to and from the frontline in a long-forgotten dispute on Earth. Much like it’s namesake this ship has supplied Confederacy ships in countless skirmishes over the years.

It relies mostly on a large shield generator that gives it protection from stray missiles and projectiles. A medium tungsten blaster turret can also be deployed against incoming attacks. The Reckless houses several small cargo drones that quickly delivers crates to and from allied ships. It delivers its cargo and blasts off to safety again, mostly it won’t be in danger from attacking vessels more than 10-20 minutes.

---------------------

This SHIP was built during one month for SHIPtember 2023. It is designed around the 2635 Crane Support Element. I made a sketch first and then I started building. I’ve had a lot of help and input from my fellow AFOL SHIP-builders on Discord. Thank you so much!

2013 was the first year I participated in SHIPtember, so this is my ten year anniversary! 😃
