A Volkswagen Beetle can be anything you want it to be, as evidenced by this 1955 Beetle, with its yellow fog lamps and its custom wheels. And as 1955 was the year tubular overriders were added to the bumpers, it's obvious that that Euro bumpers on this Bug were added later.

it was also in 1955 that Volkswagen of America was founded. So, as of 2015, VW has officially been in business in the U.S. for sixty years. Will Volkswagen of America be able to celebrate its seventieth anniversary in 2025? I have to be frank; thanks to the diesel scandal, it doesn't look good. But let's hope so. Even more important, let's hope the parent company is still around by then.

Dune Buggy Pickup by Steven Maginnis

I had to go somewhere unexpectedly and, had I not done so, I wouldn't have seen this Volkswagen-based dune buggy pickup, with the cool fiberglass roof.

Such conversions from Beetle platforms were popular beck in the 1960s and 1970s, especially in California.

Of course this is a flip phone photo. The place where I was was somewhere I had to go at the last minute, and I wouldn't have taken my regular camera anyway.
