The Office of Public Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv invited the residents of Modi’in, a modern, planned city with an ever growing population in the center of the country, to a “Meet America and Get Acquainted” Day in the city’s Cultural Plaza, as part of the city’s first “Street Art Festival.” Embassy-sponsored U.S. break dance and hip hop dancers, Geoffrey Chang, Gabriel Gerome Joachino, and Moises Rivas wowed the children, teenagers, and families with their “super-cool” moves before performing in the “Battle of the Year break dance competition.
The crowds then moved to investigate the Embassy’s colorful booth, with bunting, balloons and give-away water bottles who were eager to enjoy the grassy flooring and comfortable poofs, watch street dance videos, inquire about U.S. studies, visas to the U.S. and to enjoy the American atmosphere -- right in the middle of Israel.
Following a strong winter storm, snow blankets much of Washington state. This false-color image distinguishes between snow (red) and clouds (peach to white) better than natural-color imagery. In New Delhi, Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed increased U.S.-India participation in several areas of mutual concern, including defeating Islamic extremism, protecting the environment, implementation of Prime Minister Modi's International Yoga Day, and maximizing economic opportunities between the two countries.
RADARSAT-1 (right ) and RADARSAT-2 (left) satellite radar images taken July 26, 2010. Wind conditions (ranging from 3-6 meters per second) were nearly ideal for detecting oil slicks on radar imagery. Scattered patches of slick and sheen (delineated with orange line) are spread across a wide area, but it appears that the oil slick created by the Macondo well blowout is steadily dissipating. No new oil can be found around the well site.
Backdrop (color) is a MODIS/Aqua image also taken on July 26.
