I'd been having a little chuckle to myself over the whole Mod/Godfather thing when it came to numbering these shots... Problem is, there's more Modfather shots than there are Godfather films.
That's that screwed, then.
So I s'pose I should write something about the gig.
There's something about going to see a quote-unquote legendary act that fills me with dread. Will they be old and dad-like? Will they do horrible, cheesy re-interpretations of their hits? Will they just plain suck?
It's probably due to the acts I go see, but generally, none of the above happen. I've consciously avoided The Sex Pistols, The Rolling Stones are still great, Buzzcocks are a bit chubby (and there's only Steve and Pete left), and The Ramones still had it in the early 90s.
Weller was awesome. Some of his later work - Studio 150, I'm looking at you - might be a bit over-produced, but live, with a shit hot band, he's still up there. Sure, it's not The Jam or Style Council, but given Weller's views on reformations, that ain't going to happen.
The man's a legend. You should have been there.
Oh! I just thought of one act that should pack up and call it a day - KISS.
No surprises there, though.

Something I thought I'd never see - Damon Albarn & Noel Gallagher sharing a stage!
The great rivals of the 1990's britpop scene along with "The Modfather" himself played together for the first time in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust .
Noel Gallagher took over Roger Daltery's curating position for the 2013 Teenage Cancer Trust shows at the Royal Albert Hall and managed to persuade his long time rivals from Blur to join him.

I guess some wanted to see what a band's career looked like if I "charted" it out. I've really "nerded" out here on with my band album charts, so I started this set to house them all (well not all of them)
A few things: I kept it to bands that have had at least 5 records or have been around at least 10 years (sorry Arcade Fire), please also keep in mind this is how I see things - not the word of God, always up for debate of course, but this has produced some interesting results/looks when you view artistic output so, matter-of-fact. The Terrible to Essential rating should also be in context of the band itself.
Also left off any hits packages or live albums.
Remember, this is just for fun.

The Modfather comes to Cambridge. We were sat up in the gods at the back of the Corn Exchange so the photos could have been better. I think the Support Act was called The Gravel Tones but they were from Oldham.
