A surreal, robed figure with a glowing halo and piercing horizontal light for eyes sits in a contemplative pose among stylized plant forms. Rendered in high-contrast black and white, this artwork blends AI and photography to create an alien, symbolic presence that straddles the boundary between the organic and the divine. Created by Duncan Rawlinson, the image invites interpretation through its experimental and otherworldly tone.

Not all departures leave a sound. Some simply shift the light.

“She Left Nothing But the Shape of Her Silence” is about the quiet moment after the storm when the crows no longer call, when the fabric no longer clings. The tunnel isn’t escape. It’s acceptance.

She doesn’t look back because there’s no need to. Everything that mattered already followed her into the dark.

I built this image as an echo, a visual inhale before the final breath is released.

There are landscapes we walk not to find, but to name.

“The Fabric of What Was Left” is a reckoning with aftermath. The red folds underfoot are not clothing. They are remnants decisions, bodies, memories, undone vows. The storm ahead is not arrival. It’s acknowledgment.

The figure walks forward not because she is ready, but because everything else has already happened.

I wanted to build a space where grief became ground dense, soft, unignorable. Where you don’t rise above it. You move through it.

This is not ascent. It is aftermath.

“All the Daughters Left Behind” was born from the idea that houses remember. And sometimes, they rot from the insidenot from mold, but from memory. The staircase is not a path upward, but a procession site. Each red mass on the steps is a silence, a story, a woman who was told to be quiet until she disappeared into wallpaper.

The figure walks not toward freedom but toward witness. She is not mourning them. She is them.

The light isn’t holy. It’s exposure. And in that light, the truth becomes impossible to ignore.

At some point, mourning turns into movement.

“She Walked Through the Middle Like It Belonged to Her” marks a shift in the red figure's journey from ghost to force. This is not reclamation. This is rewriting. The city does not pause for her, yet its walls warp behind her. The cars blur, the air twists, the red forms trailing her become a wake of rupture.

She does not confront the world. She simply walks through it as if it never had the power to deny her in the first place.

This is the beginning of her myth not as memory but as mythmaker.

When the mask is heavy, even silence starts to sound familiar.

“He Thought He Heard His Name” is about doubt. Not collapse. Not revelation. Just that flicker of wondering whether you’re still being watched or remembered.

The Lamb isn’t preparing. He isn’t collapsing. He’s listening. And maybe that’s the most dangerous thing of all: not knowing if the voice is real or part of the act.

I made this to explore how stillness isn’t always peace. Sometimes it’s strategy. Sometimes it’s hallucination.

Artist Statement:

This Lamb is not preparing to flee or repent. He’s preparing to be seen.

The tie is not a symbol of conformity, but of willful composure in a crumbling world.

This piece is about the illusion of control. The Lamb knows the building behind him is rotting, knows his shirt bears the stain of previous violence. Still, he straightens the tie. Not out of vanity but to own the moment before everything falls apart.

In this work, I wanted posture to tell the story. There is no movement, but everything is about to move.
