Design Inspiration: Color Palette - Black and White
This piece of mid-century glass is from the Viking Glass Company of New Martinsville, West Virginia. Part of their Epic line, this is often known as the 8-finger or 8-petal bowl. It was found in Burnsville, Minnesota.
This small glass candlestick is part of the Epic line by Viking Glass in their bluenique color. It was found in Apple Valley, Minnesota.
I'm quite pleased with how these turned out.
Lighting is soooooo challenging.
Creating a light - as complex as this (yes- I know- it "looks" so simple) involves a lot of precision, akin to fabricating a piece of Jewelery.
Certainly much more happening per sq.inch....versus a piece of Furniture, which I'm more used to fabricating.
Oh - and ask me what I NOW know about Nickle-Plating, next time ya see me....

I just installed 5 of these in an amazing 2 story "loft" Condo in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood - 2 of them (33" tall/long) this size, 2 a bit smaller...and one JUMBO one in a stairwell/stairway.

Just a composition of shapes and colours taken at the newly built Baptist Mills Court at the bottom of the M32 in Bristol.
This large vase with a wax resist glaze application is by Italian maker Bitossi. It retains its original Raymor import sticker with the hand-written code "9632 A BIT". It was found in Little Chute, Wisconsin.

This 17 inch swung vase is a six petal form from the Epic line by the Viking Glass Company in their avocado color. It was found in Richfield, Minnesota.
This bowl is by Italian maker Bitossi. An unknown decor name, it is typically found in Scandinavia, and includes a sticker on which reads "431/30 811".
This small modernist ceramic vase was made by an unidentified Japanese company, potentially Takahashi. It was found in Des Moines, Iowa.

Passive Cooling
The shape of the house and the placement of operable windows is used to create a passive stack ventilation. Opening clerestory windows at the high end of the house creates convection that pulls cool air into the house through the bank of sliding glass doors on the opposite wall.
This low bowl is by Oscar Bucher, who has a studio in Santa Barbara, California since about 1960. The name Bucher is hand-impressed in script on the bottom.
Design in progress for three story home and art studio in northern Michigan. A collaboration between John T Unger, artist and Greg La Vardera architect.
Entry way closet designed as an abstract from the front. Viewed from the side, image doubles and is seen as a large vessel.
Doors have asymmetrical 80/20 split.
