Located nearby Liege (Belgium), the Prehistomuseum of Ramioul has been entirely renovated (2013-16). The new buildings have been designed by Gil Honoré who introduced natural materials (wood, straw insulation etc.) in a modern architectural design.

The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) connects London with Canary Wharf in the east and beyond. In my working days I rode on it most days and often used this station. But in those days I wasn't interested in photography and to be honest I don't think I ever even noticed what a terrific piece of modern architectural design this station was, and still is. I've since learned to always look up!

The Beijing National Stadium (北京国家体育场, guójiā tǐyùchǎng), also known as the Bird's Nest (鸟巢, Niǎocháo) was designed for and used during the 2008 Summer Olympics and Paralympics.
The design was awarded to the Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron, structural engineering by ARUP. The design implemented interlaced steel beams in order to hide the supports for the planned retractable roof, thus giving the stadium the appearance of a bird's nest.
The retractable roof was later removed from the design after leading to the stadium's most recognizable design aspect. Apart from cost savings, the removal of the retractable roof made the overall design lighter and also helped to design it to withstand seismic activities.
The "Bird's Nest" design features to an apparently random placing of the beams, while in-fact each of the stadium's halves features an identical layout of the structural members.
The stadium is 333 metres long, 296 metres wide and has a maximum height of 69 metres. Regular seating capacity is 80,000, on peak events such as the Olympics this number can be increased to 91,000.
It does not belong to the list of "one time used and then abandoned" Olympic facilities, though it did initially face difficulties attracting new events. Most post-olympics profit comes from the 50 Yuan admission fee for visitors - at an annual average 25,000 visitors per day do visit the stadium.

Situated in Parque das Nações, Lisbon, this impressive station was on for design bidding to be used for the 1998 Expo which was solicited internationally. The concept was originally designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava in 1995 and built by Necso.
Although within a stone's throw from my hotel, I was not spared the early morning rise to shoot this marvel. Police patrol and security guards could not understand my obsession but the shot was eventually successfully taken, free of traffic and passers by.

Reunification Hall is a stylish modern architecture designed by Ngô Viết Thụ, a Vietnamese architect who studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and won the Grand Prix de Rome in 1955.
I saw many dressed up people posing for photos in this historical building.
A civil engineering marvel, modern architectural design at the forefront. To be able to make this work of art a serviceable building is simply incredible, to be weather proof, safe and serve a purpose as well as looking this good is genius as well as designing it so it can be cleaned.

Photographed quite often, the imposing canopy of Canary Wharf tube station is a superb piece of modern architecture.
Designed by Foster and Partner Architects it was completed in 1999. Above ground the station roof is laid out as a landscaped park, creating Canary Wharf's principal recreation space. The only visible station elements are these arcing glass canopies that cover its three entrances and draw daylight deep into the concourse.
I've given this shot a desaturated look and given it a cooler white balance as I didn't really like how the colours of the original shot came out. A lot of people like to keep this shot free of people as well but I thought I'd include some human element to give scale to the vast canopy itself.
In popular culture Canary Wharf station has been used by Danny Boyle for his film 28 Days Later and more recently, the Star Wars film Rogue One.

The Oculus Center, also known as the Oculus or World Trade Center Transportation Hub, is an impressive structure in New York City that opened in March 2016. It was designed by renowned Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava.
The idea behind the Oculus was to create not only a transportation hub for the subways and the PATH train, but also a symbol of hope and rebirth on the site of the former World Trade Center, which was destroyed in the September 11, 2001 attacks.
Construction of the Oculus was extremely challenging and complex. The distinctive white opening structure, which looks like a bird or a flower, is made of steel and glass and covers an area of about 9,290 square meters. It was an engineering feat to realize the structure. The budget for the construction was about 4 billion US dollars.
The Oculus functions not only as a transportation hub, but also as a shopping center and public space. It is an impressive example of modern architectural design and a symbol of resilience and hope amidst the challenges the city and the world have faced following the tragic events of September 11.
The Ópera de Arame (The Wire Opera House), one of Curitiba’s most recognizable buildings and an excellent example of modern architecture. Designed by architect Domingos Bongestabs, it was completed in March 1992, after only 75 days of construction and is built entirely of glass and steel pipes in a lush green space surrounded by a lake. Located in a deactivated quarry just north of Curitiba’s city center, the theater, was built to work with the surrounding nature. It can seat up to 2,400 spectators and hosts performances ranging from classical to popular.

It was used by Nguyễn Văn Thiệu for his home and office until 1975. He was the leader of the military coup in 1965 and elected later as president.
It was renamed to Reunification Hall in 1975 when Vietnam was reunified. It is now open to the public as a historical monument.
