Test shoot using my newly acquired Light Blaster (light-blaster.com) which allows you to project your own backdrop images. Since I also have a big photoshoot coming up for a local hair salon I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone and get some salon test shots as well.
The Light Blaster performed well overall but it definitely has strengths and weaknesses. I just used an old 18-55mm Canon kit lens, I found I needed to use a lot of power. If I used a faster lens (ie wider aperture) it should require a bit less light. A big issue is that you really need to limit spill from your key light or else it will completely wash out the projected background. I was shooting in a small space so this didn't help that fact, if I had more room the key light would have fallen off quicker too.

Key light: Canon 580EX in 16" beauty dish
Location: In front of model, very close, angled down at a 45.

This neat little model was made by an artist in Indonesia. He makes these models / sculptures by taking strands of fiber from banana tree stalks. Then, by twisting the strands of fiber together, he creates small ropes, which he then shapes and glues into anything that you want. I had him make a model of my 1959 Lambretta Series 1 Li150. He did a wonderful job as you can see by the photos. One interesting thing is that all of the levers, move, the shocks and suspension works, the wheels rotate, etc.

This is what's inside the Model Radio shop - if you can get in (it's only open between 1 and 3pm approx). The lady is the owner's wife - she told me they bought the shop in 1970 and that she is 82 years old.

This diorama gives the layout of the Stage 9 set at Desilu Studios where Star Trek was filmed starting in 1964. Sorry for all the glare on the glass; I neglected to bring a polarizing filter with me.
