Controlling behaviour goes hand in hand with domestic violence .. a common trait for controlling men to exhibit is to stop 'their' women from wearing makeup. They can be manipulative about how they achieve their end result: it can appear as if he is meaning well by saying things such as 'you don't REALLY need that stuff on your face, you're pretty enough...' to 'I prefer my women more natural,' to sulking when he doesn't get his way to even using physical force. However, though he may use sweet and persuasive words at first, he is being driven by his own insecurity and jealousy, and whatever he says, it's really nothing to do with his personal sexual tastes. (Think about it ... he's actually contradicting himself as most women met their man and attracted him in the first place when they were dressed up really nicely and wore make up). So it's all (in his mind) about making you less attractive to other men, ebbing away your personal confidence and power, so you're less likely to leave HIM, meaning you'll put up with more and more of his crap, ultimately meaning you become under his control in every area of your life.
