This is one of the scenes from the model railroad set in the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington, Ontario. The challenge in shooting was to single out key scenes amidst the compact world of activity in the set design. I liked the mood in this image. I imagine who the girl is waiting for or where she is going. Is this melancholy or nervousness she seems to show?

For years I have been trying to get a decent shot of anything inside the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, but always seem to come up til now. I know it is nothing to write home about, but it is the only shot that I have even thought about posting on Flickr. Am I the only one that has problems getting a decent shot inside the Conservatory or is this place difficult for everyone? Let me know. Thanks for looking.

Odd to think that toy manufacturing continued (albeit on a small scale) during WW2 and that exports were still being delivered (for hard, foreign currency).

This charming advert shows various tin plate metal toys that would have thrilled many a '40s child. The 'London Transport' style Green Line coach has some very non-London destinations and the LT trolleybus is wonderful. Other models show wartime life - the spotlight lorry and ARP truck. Wells and Brimtoy were based in Walthamstow, E17.

The world's smallest operating model train set was built by New Jersey resident David Smith, a model train enthusiast. The tiny railway consists of a five-carriage train that travels on a circular track through a tunnel while being 35,200 times smaller than its standard-sized version. The village showcases a model shop for storing the tiny trains. It costs Smith £6 to build the train set.

Nothing screams Christmas more than a nice model train set barreling around the tree. I shot this on my iPhone 4 with a tilt shift generator app and a little added lighting.
