Out on the Yorkshire coast yesterday, I arrived in the rain only to be rewarded with this towards the end of the day! This is one battle that never stops, the sea washing up against the cliffs, the rocks fall only to be smoothed into pebbles then into sand.

I’ve been to Fort De Soto a couple of times this year. While still a favorite destination, it is alarming how few birds were there this year compared to last. Fortunately, there were White Morphs present, which are all white Reddish Egrets. They represent only a small portion of Reddish Egrets and, from my observation, are frequently chased away by the red ones. The first two time I spotted one, a good distance down the beach, by the time I got close enough to photograph a red phase showed up, chasing off the white phased bird. Not a bad consolation prize but I really wanted a White Morth. One night I was too tired from the drive north to stay out until sunset and, of course, two Whites showed up for my friends with more stamina. Finally, I got my chances. Here’s one characteristically acting crazy in the act of fish finding. My kind of bird! (Egretta rufescens) (Sony a1ii, 200-600mm lens @600mm, 1/4000 second, f/7.1, ISO 640)

Capel Salem was built in 1833 and rebuilt in 1868 in the Gothic syle of the gable-entry type, by architect Thomas Thomas of Landore. It closed in 1973, and has been abandoned since.

These photographs, taken in April 2017, showcase the building as it stands today.

Inspiration for the framing of the shots came from the 1975 New Topographics exhibition.

After two years of waiting I finally got to stand in front of this magical tree in the perfect conditions. Was truly magical.

In 1120, the site of St Mary the Virgin’s Church at Embsay in North Yorkshire would have been an open field which belonged to the Augustinian canons whose monastery was just up the hill from here. They served Embsay and Eastby until 1154, when they moved to what is now Bolton Priory.

In 1853 you would have seen the church as it looks today. The people who worshipped here worked in mills and on farms. During the past 100 years, Embsay and Eastby have grown and become places with a rich diversity of occupations.

It looks like the season of fog comes. Actually it is not true. The foggy view was caused by BC forest fires.

The View down Little Cottonwood Canyon from Albion Basin near the crest of the Wasatch Mountains.

I considered titling this one "High Lonesome".

At 9,000 ft. elevation, Albion Basin is certainly high but during wildflower season it is anything but lonesome. Thousands of people make the journey from Salt Lake City to enjoy the annual event.

On the bright side though, getting fifty feet or so away from the popular hiking trails can put you in a place of solitude and quiet wonder.

''Ferrari 250LM (# 21), victorious at the 33rd edition of the 24 Heures Du Mans in 1965. The last Le Mans that the Italian stable would ever win, this North American Racing Team entry enjoyed a legendary win, beating the arguably favoured Ford GT40s, all of which retired before midnight. Piloted officially by Jochen Rindt and Masten Gregory.''

Cologne Cathedral is a Roman Catholic church in Cologne, Germany. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Cologne and the administration of the Archdiocese of Cologne. It is a renowned monument of German Catholicism and Gothic architecture and is a World Heritage Site. It is Germany's most visited landmark, attracting an average of 20,000 people a day.

Construction of Cologne Cathedral commenced in 1248 and was halted in 1473, leaving it unfinished. Work restarted in the 19th century and was completed, to the original plan, in 1880. It is 144.5 metres (474 ft) long, 86.5 m (284 ft) wide and its towers are approximately 157 m (515 ft) tall. The cathedral is the largest Gothic church in Northern Europe and has the second-tallest spires Its two huge spires give it the largest façade of any church in the world. The choir has the largest height to width ratio, 3.6:1, of any medieval church.

Cologne's medieval builders had planned a grand structure to house the reliquary of the Three Kings and fit its role as a place of worship for the Holy Roman Emperor. Despite having been left incomplete during the medieval period, Cologne Cathedral eventually became unified as "a masterpiece of exceptional intrinsic value" and "a powerful testimony to the strength and persistence of Christian belief in medieval and modern Europe".
