I can't really just turn the mixer on and walk away, though that's part of what a stand mixer is supposed to do for you. Mine sits on a lightweight metal cabinet that has mostly light objects stored inside, so unless I brace it against the wall with my hip, the whole thing rattles and shakes horribly and would probably walk across the kitchen in a few minutes' time.
