First shots from one of my Christmas gifts, the KODAK Mini Shot 3 Square Retro Instant Camera. It's a 10MP digital point and shoot camera with a 4 color printer that yields 3-inch square laminated images. In these first images I am testing it's ability to do closeups of Mary's Dicken's Village and Battle of the Bulge diorama.

Here's the other, darker one I had given to me from my neighbor. They're cute little interesting cameras - I wonder how good they'll work? Rest assured I'll be trying one out sooner or later.

In case it's hard to tell the scale of this camera from my picture, these things barely have enough room to hold a 110 cartridge. The camera body is a little thicker than 1/8" of plastic, so they're pretty tiny.

My neighbor knows how I collect "interesting" cameras, so when our other neighbor was cleaning out his attic and found this one and another one just like it, only dark colored, he gave them both to me.

There was no printing anywhere else on this camera that I could find, inside and out, so I have no clue who markets these little toy 110 cameras. The shutters on both of them are still nice and crisp, so I'll be using them before too long to see how they perform.

The black piece surrounding the lens flips up and acts as a viewfinder. We'll see what develops....

The Vignette Press Mini Shots launch was held this afternoon [well, yesterday now] in the Atrium at Federation Square.

The turnout was great and everyone that came along stayed the full length of the launch. Five of the six authors behind the first six issues appeared to do readings from their respective stories, with Nina standing in for Sarah Jansen.

Lisa did a fantastic job of organising the event, despite the various hurdles she faced along the way, and I don't think anyone minded that there was no wine after all.

The readings were great and it was cool to meet some of the authors and get to hear them read the stories I've been creating covers for. I didn't get a chance to speak to all of them though.

And I didn't get very many photos because I was too giddy and nervous about having to give a speech - which I managed to blurt out in what seemed like less than sixty seconds, I think!

It was so strange, but exhilarating to see my photos up on the big screen overhead... Eep!

In other news, the latest Vignette Press Mini Shot is out now, City Limits by Christopher Clarke.

The penultimate short story for the 2007 series that I've been creating covers for.

I met up with Lisa at the East Brunswick Club after work today for a quiet drink and to discuss the launch tomorrow.

She wants me to speak!

Eep! I take the photos so I don't *have* to speak :P

But I will speak, I guess, and throw in lots of "you know"'s and "um"'s, as you'd expect.

We hadn't caught up properly in a while, so it was good to sit in comfy armchairs and talk life, the universe and everything whilst drinking apple nectar :D

And then, realising I was running low on time to do my 365 for the day, I asked if she'd like to be in it :D

So this, my friends, half-concealed as she is, is my lovely publisher, Lisa. The woman behind indie publishing company Vignette Press, for whom I am creating covers for Mini Shots.

I love to be creative !

Mini Shot 110 compact camera. Got this one at Chuck-e-Cheese long long ago for playing fucktonnes of Skeeball. Pumped more tokens in that machine than what it's worth!

I loaded a sampling of cameras in my car for an afternoon of picture taking.

Oh! Look! The fifth Vignette Press Mini Shot is out! And I have a copy in my hot little hands! "Pine" by Ed Moreno :D

We're halfway through the series, baby!

All these puppies have my images on the cover and refreshing shots of short fiction between the covers.

I have to thank Lisa for involving me in this wonderful and challenging venture and the authors for inspiring my creative mind :D

Whilst going through old images, I just found an outtake from the shoot I did for the cover of 'Pine', and realised the exclusive license for these images has now lapsed and I can reproduce them here for you.

Vignette Press still have copies of each issue of series one, as well as series two with cover images by talented illustrator, Rhys McDonald, available from their website.

I saw this in the thrift store and had to buy this just for nostalgic purposes, being that I won this same camera (only blue) at the local arcade when I was little and used it all the time.
