Wake up

Open your sleepy eyes

Stretch out

Make up the bed now

Sunlight

Kissing your face again

Breakfast

Coffee is waiting

Soap up

Rinse all your cares away

Toothbrush

Keeping your mouth clean

Dress up

Walk out the front door

Turn on the radio talk show

Oh oh oh oh

This is a brand new day

Oh oh oh oh

And it's getting better every single way

Oh oh oh oh

This is brand new day

Oh oh oh oh

And I'm feeling better when you say

La la la la la la la love

La la la la la la la love

La la la la la la la love

Haha, I'm in love with that song, thanks to my lovely friend Savannah for showing me it!

Sorry for the lack of uploads, I'm still doing make-up work. Yeah, I know, I had a lot of it =[

For this shot, jumped off a wood chair which had been sitting outside for 2 years. The entire time I was like "Just one more shot, just one more shot," and I didn't want to stop shooting. But, the chair broke. Any rational person would be happy with the shots they already had. Haha, not me. I got the other chair and did it again. Let's just say, I ended up with a huge splinter, and nice yell from my mum for two broken pieces of furniture.

Not fun.

Anyway... So what's up with you guys? I have to visit all of you when I get done with my work. I'll get there though!

This is the last of the roped miniseries too. I think this really fits my mood, I was getting bored with the blue wall in my room...

Explore #6, thanks!

15 February 2009

Wow, I don't know how many days late this is. All I really know is that it's very late...

I know everyone does one of these, but here's my shot at it.

Anyway, sorry for the major lack of uploads. I have been in bed with the flu for a good 4 days, and as a result I have officially missed 3 consecutive days of my 365. I guess I'll just have to tack 3 days onto the end then. Today was the first day I could actually manage to get out of bed, so I'm sorry.

Thanks to Grisamanecer for the new testimonial! And thanks to the others before her.

Oh, while I was practically dead, my Valentines day shot, Love Is All Around You, reached #4 on explore! Thank you all so much! I am so happy! That's the highest explore I have ever received! You all deserve a huge party!

I am also sorry if I haven't answered any of your messages yet. I am still trying to sift through the 200+ I that have accumulated in my inbox these past few days while I was out. So if you sent me mail, hang in there, I'm getting to you!

Sorry for the overload, quite a little bit happened these past four days.

This is also part of my roped miniseries. Before/during/after?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Explore #101, thanks!

14 February 2009

Really, really late I know... I got sick and was in the mood for nothing recently.

Flickr you were supposed to be my valentine, but I didn't upload in time so, sorry.

I'm so sorry to my contacts! I have been a really crappy contact lately, but I plan to visit all of you soon! I just have to catch up in schoolwork, flickr mail, editing, my 365, and my chores first.

But anyway, I have a surprise for you...

Part of the Roped miniseries.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Explore #4! Thanks so much! That's the highest explore I have ever gotten!

Oh, I don't think I'll be uploading tonight, I'm getting ready to hurl as I type. Bye!

“The art of conversation is the art of hearing as well as of being heard.”

Quote ― William Hazlitt

The two lovely origami cats are having a conversation about how to spend their time this week. ;-))

This is an older model, but still so nice to fold and can be used as little presents. I folded two of them in a slightly different pose from 15x15cm double washi, black/gold. Final size: height 8cm, width 5cm.

It is also the last one in this miniseries, I have to fold more first ;-))

Have a great start of your too!!

I took all the three pictures of this miniseries at the Viktor-Adler-Platz in Favoriten, the 10th district of Vienna. I have lived in this neighbourhood for ten years.

to the northwest at Masada. One of six Roman forts from the Siege of Masada visible today almost 2000 years later These forts were strongholds of a circumvallation wall held by an entire Roman legion. Due to the enormous quantities of food and water stored in the fortress that made it possible for a thousand men to hold out for at least one year, the Romans decided to build a rampart up one of the mountainsides so that their war machines could be brought to bear on the fortress walls and so take this seemingly impregnable fortress.

Masada (Tv miniseries) with Peter O'Toole, Peter Strauss, and Barbara Carrera brought those ancient events to life for a modern audience.

Bedruthen steps, Cornwall, with sea pink flowers in the foreground, title after a 1986 film and song by the Psychedelic furs....

Aah 1986, the year of the Chernobyl tragedy, I just finished watching the miniseries, doesn't help watching that subject when one is already depressed, but I knew it wasn't going to end well.

Smile on Saturday: "Portray a Book Title"

The Queen's Gambit is a 1983 American novel by Walter Tevis, exploring the life of fictional female chess prodigy Beth Harmon. A coming-of-age story, it covers themes of adoption, feminism, chess, drug addiction and alcoholism. The book was adapted for the 2020 Netflix miniseries of the same name.

Harry was a funny guy, can count on him to have an extra Ace, I hope Jokers are Wild wherever you are.

Harry Laverne Anderson (October 14, 1952 – April 16, 2018) was an American actor, comedian, and magician. He is best known for the lead role of Judge Harry Stone on the 1984–1992 television series Night Court, and later starred in the sitcom Dave's World from 1993 to 1997.

In addition to eight appearances on Saturday Night Live between 1981 and 1985, Anderson had a recurring guest role as con man Harry "The Hat" Gittes on Cheers, toured extensively as a magician, and did several magic/comedy shows for broadcast, including Harry Anderson's Sideshow (1987). He played Richie Tozier in the 1990 miniseries It, based on the Stephen King novel of the same name.

Familiar Gentleness (Shou xi de wen rou) is one of my favorite Chinese songs and is the theme song from a Taiwanese miniseries, "Silence". It's hard translating Mandarin to English because so much meaning gets lost in translation...so I won't attempt it :P.

Europe, Netherlands, Gelderland, Arnhem, Arnhem Centraal Station (UNStudio), hall, (slightly cut from B & T)

The Arnhem Centraal NS station. Shown here is a side part of the most dashing element of the station: the grand hall.

I still dig the organic lines, spatial flow and the light play of this part of the edifice. The complex structure (the articulation and variable curvature) shouts advanced CAD (computer-aided design).

This is the start of another new miniseries of the edifice.

A list of some previous shots featuring it: Arnhem Central 1, the curvilinear goodness of one the platform access roofs with the Park & Rijn towers: here. Arnhem Central 2, zoomed in on the one the platform access roofs: here. Arnhem Central 3, the 'Ernst Blofeld' part of the grand ral hall: here. Arnhem Central 4, the large scale sculpted space of the grand hall: here. Arnhem Central 5, the sculpted space of the grand hall again is: here. Arnhem Centraal 6, a trolley scape is: here. Arnhem Centraal 7, front facade with trolly bus catenary infrastructure is: here. Europe, Portugal, Dão, Ponte do Mosteirinho, Ecopista do Dão (slightly cut from B&T)

It's again time for some serious armchair / desk travelling. The destination: Portugal.

The Mosteirinho bridge on the blue part (there’s also a green and a red part) of the Ecopista do Dão. This 52 km cycle track follows the route of the former `Linha do Dao`, a meter gauge rail line (Santa Comba Dão – Visue). Which was closed in 1972 (for freight operation) and 1988 also for passenger services. It´s probably the most attractive ecovia/ecopista of Portugal.

The iron Mosteirinho bridge (1890) is often attributed to Eifel but was designed by a pupil of his. It was renovated and repurposed in 2009.

This is the start of a miniseries that explores the Dào valley and the former Linha do Dão with its dilapidated stations.

This is number 44 of the Portual 2014 album and 972 of Minimalism / explicit Graphism

On the way from Bias to the Plage de L'Especier of Mimizan, runs one of the most beautiful roads in the Landes, when the landscape suddenly becomes slightly hilly, providing a pleasant change in what is otherwise a very flat stretch of land. This gives the road a very special atmosphere in precisely this area, running dead straight towards the Atlantic Ocean, which is not to be expected from this position. You just think to yourself, "Where does this road lead?" This atmosphere also seems to have caught the eye of the makers of the French TV mystery miniseries "The Last Wave", because this is exactly where it was also filmed.

The title translates literally as "red & white"

It seems that a few need a break from flowers, so I looked through my archives and found a shot that I was lucky enough to take along with 50 others of this cooperative Bullock's Oriole.

Here's one of my few successes from a decade ago when I was walking the Bluebird nest box trail. Every summer, they would come, mate, and build nests in the deepest part of the lowest branches of a huge oak in the meadow (and on another hill). I had two months to get a good shot, and then, they would be off with their fleglings for the southern part of the state.

Bullock's have an annoying habit of announcing their presence with a ratcheting call. They're like the Belted Kingfishers in that regard. I'm sure they weren't calling to me to announce departures and arrivals at oaks all over Mt. Diablo. I learned early that if you want to get a decent image, you should park yourself adjacent to the meadow where they feed and get stuff for the young.

Bullock's oriole (Icterus bullockii) is a small New World blackbird. At one time, this species and the Baltimore oriole were considered to be a single species, the northern oriole. This bird is named after William Bullock, an English amateur naturalist. Bullock's orioles are sexually dimorphic, with males being more brightly colored than females. In addition, adult males tend to be slightly larger and heavier than females.

Infrared Cows - A miniseries on cows - taken with a converted infrared camera (720nm) in the French Ardennes

The way it was: memories from 1980.

I posted these pictures more for local residents and those who are planning to visit this area.

In 1973, watching a steam locomotive being pushed by a diesel one as it went through the family orchard, we had no idea where it was going. The locomotive was a Canadian Pacific 4-4-0 No. 136 built in 1883. The motive power was used in the Canadian miniseries The National Dream, which was filmed in Myra Canyon the same year. Sometime in early 1980, while on a service call to repair a broken logging truck in the Hydraulic Lake area near Kelowna, I learned where Myra Canyon was. In June of the same year, I organized a Penticton Camera Club outing to visit the canyon. At that time, Canadian Pacific Railway had stopped using the line but had not removed the tracks. The scenic views of Myra Canyon, with its stunning trestle bridges and expansive vistas, made for an unforgettable photography experience. The club spent the day exploring and photographing the tunnels, bridges, and trestles. By 2002, the Myra Canyon section of the Kettle Valley Railway was designated a National Historic Site. In 2003, all the trestles were destroyed in a forest fire, and by June 2008, they were rebuilt and the park reopened.

People are so amazing...how is it that someone who lacks confidence and sufferer’s depression can lift the spirit of someone they've never met through words alone...I'm totally blown away!

This image was supposed to be part of a miniseries covering the golden hour through to the moon. I now dedicate this series to you – thank you for your inspiration!!

In your own work you mention about you sometimes battle with depression & how you lack confidence; yet you have nothing but warm words of encouragement for others...amazing.

Hence the title - Feeling blue but there is still warmth.

..the sound of hundreds of sheep pulling up grass by the roots was reminiscent of the munching Langoliers from the Stephen King TV miniseries....loud and somewhat disturbing....

This is the last image from this miniseries of imagery made a couple weeks ago. The two light areas were streams of fast-moving fog spilling down the hills. Another drenched me right as I completed this long exposure. I think it sums up a foggy shoot up on the hill fairly well. I hope you found these shots enjoyable. Many of you told me you did and that makes it all worth it. Thanks!

To close this miniseries of Geese, I bring you a nominal Goose that is more related to Shelducks despite its name. Such a spectacular plumage requires upkeep. Admired at the historic Jardin Public, Bordeaux.

Europe, Norge, Olso, Bjørvika, Operahuset, Glass facade (slightly cut)

The Oslo Opera House (in Norwegian, Operahuset) is the seat of The Norwegian National Opera and Ballett, and the national opera theatre in Norway. The building lies in Bjørvika, in the center of Oslo, at the head of the Oslofjord.

Its dominating position made me think about the Sydney Opera House.

Its builder is Statsbygg, a government-run property owner, and architects were Norwegian architects Snøhetta, winning an international architecture competition with this design. The theatre designers are Theatre Projects Consultants based in the London office, the acoustic designers are BrekkeStrandArup, a joint venture between local consultant Brekke Strand Akustikk and international acousticians Arup Acoustics. Norwegian construction company Veidekke was awarded one of the largest building contracts of the project. The future user of the building will be the Norwegian National Opera.

The structure provides a total area of 38,500 m² spanning 1,100 rooms, one of which has 1,350 seats and one with up to 400 seats. The Opera House was finished in 2007 with the opening event held on Saturday April 12, 2008.

David Tallichet, who flew with the 100th BG in WWII (the subject of the Apple TV+ miniseries "Masters Of The Air") extensively restored this post-war B-17G to replicate an early-war B-17F variant. A replacement to the forward fuselage (where the chin-turret was, and is usually covered with a plate on current "F" restorations), adding a longer plexiglass nose common to the B-17F, and going so far as to add a working top-turret from that era's aircraft, recovered from B-17E's found under the Greenland ice where the P-38F "Glacier Girl" was found illustrate the time & expense taken to restore Mr. Tallichet's aircraft to represent what he flew in the war. According to an article in "Air Classics" magazine written at the time, this aircraft was flown across the Atlantic to star in the 1990 version of "Memphis Belle". After the movie, further authentic decals were added showing the names of crew members as shown during the real Memphis Belle's war-bond tour following completion of 25 missions. Mr. Tallichet's family has not had the aircraft flown in several years. It's currently at the Palm Springs Air Museum in California undergoing extensive maintenance to return her to active flight status. _DSC0774_HDR1bw
