Attualmente festeggia il suo 50° anno come musicista professionista, tastierista, compositore e broadcaster, Rick Wakeman si esibirà in un concerto di solo pianoforte, il 3 maggio al Teatro Manzoni di Milano.
Nato nei pressi di Londra nel 1949 e diplomato all'Opera della capitale, pianista classico passato alle tastiere, Wakeman – soprannominato "la lunga chioma bionda del rock" - ha iniziato la sua carriera negli anni '60 come turnista, arrivando a incidere anche trenta pezzi l'anno. Entrato a far parte di uno dei gruppi precursori del rock sinfonico, gli Strawbs, è poi approdato ai mitici Yes, con i quali, in pratica, inventò un nuovo modo di usare le tastiere e il Minimoog, aprendo letteralmente la strada alle moderne tecniche e ai suoni del progressive-rock.
Da ottobre 2016 Rick Wakeman è impegnato con Jon Anderson e Trevor Rabin con il progetto ARW che ha fatto registrare tutti "sold out" negli Stati Uniti e sarà da marzo 2017 in tour in Europa, Israele, Giappone e poi ancora negli Stati Uniti.
Come solista ha inciso tra l'altro "The Six Wives of Henry VIII", altro successo planetario con i suoi oltre 10 milioni di copie vendute. È stato inoltre, per anni, l'arrangiatore di David Bowie con cui ha scritto la celebre "Life on Mars" e di Elton John e ha realizzato album con numerosi altri artisti, tra i quali Cat Stevens, Black Sabbath e Lou Reed.
Il 13 gennaio è uscito l'album "Piano portraits" ed è già un successo in quanto è stato ed è il primo album solista di pianoforte ad entrare nella Top 10 del Regno Unito.
Il disco è composto da 15 brani partendo da "Life on Mars" di David Bowie – canzone per la quale Rick Wakeman registrò le parti originali di pianoforte - e "Space Oddity", a cui ha contribuito con il mellotron, passando attraverso Beatles, Yes e Led Zeppelin. Oltre a pezzi classici composti da Debussy e Tchaikovsky. Ha anche aggiunto una selezione di alcuni dei suoi pezzi classici preferiti (Berceuse, Clair de Lune e Swan Lake).
Lo show comprenderà almeno otto dei pezzi dell'album, più altre sorprese musicali.

comme si vous étiez en studio. Presque 40 ans après sa sortie, l’album mythique des Pink Floyd n’a rien perdu de sa modernité. La technologie numérique d’aujourd’hui associée aux instruments d’origine (Synthi A, Minimoog) permet maintenant de jouer et mixer en direct toute la partition.
Thierry Balasse rassemble autour de lui une équipe de musiciens hors pair dont le premier chanteur du groupe Magma. Pour ce spectacle, l’éclairagiste Yves Godin conçoit également une véritable création plastique s’appuyant sur l’idée de décomposition de la lumière, rendant hommage à ce fameux prisme diffracteur de la pochette de l’album.

POLIVOKS is a polyphonic 2 OSC analog synthesizer. It features a unique set of electronic parts, reliable keyboard (49 notes F–E) made in magnetically controlled contacts; synthesis modules consist of independent boards, which is convenient for maintenance. The synthesizer has 2-voices polyphony; each oscillator works with a keyboard note independently; two types of filters – bandpass/lowpass and external input for cutoff control. In addition, Polivoks is housed in an original body of uncommon design with handy controls. Being closed with a cover, the synthesizer turns into a strong aluminum case.
Polivoks was designed by an engineering team lead by Vladimir Kuzmin from the Urals Vector Company later built by Formanta Radio Plant in the early 80's. First commercially available Polivoks was sold in 1982 with the last unit sold in 1990. Polivoks is one of the most popular vintage synths today because of its history and extraordinary industrial look. Many consider its sound capabilities to be comparable to a MiniMoog.

Designed by Robert Moog in 1970, the Minimoog Model D synthesizer is still regarded as the Rolls Royce equivalent for analog keyboard-based synthesizers. Specifically designed for touring musicians, the minimoog exported electronic music experiments from university labs out to the masses - and her deep farting bass-sounds (think of Kraftwerk's Autobahn), lead and space bleeps and sweeps have become HUGELY popular over the last 38 years.
There were originally 13,000 minimoogs produced between 1970 and 1981. After a brief hiatus during the digital-synth craze in the 1980s, the minimoog enjoyed a resurgence of interest among musicians since the 1990s...and yes, it's becoming harder to get a hold on one.
I obtained this Mini from a studio garage sale back in 1989 for US$ 150 (in prime condition - save the crackling external input knob). After lying dormant for 7 years now, it's time to bring life back into this 1973 model D mini. Tropical humidity heavily damaged the furnishing. It needs re-tuning of the oscillators, cleaning of the electronic board, new switches for filter modulation, and thinking about a new base panel.

The Synthesizer is an electronic musical instrument that generates audio signals that may be converted to sound. They were first produced in the 1960s with the Moog Synthesizer.
The Keyboard Synthesizer was by far the most common variant (beginning with the MiniMoog in the early 1970s) until recently with the rise of MIDI-connected gear.
This instrument is a Korg Minilogue, an analog synthesizer launched in 2016. Korg Inc. (founded as Keio Electronic Laboratories) is a Japanese company which released its first synthesizer (the miniKORG) in 1973 after previously concentrating on organs.
Synthesizers are assigned the number 5 in the Hornbostel-Sachs classification of musical instruments ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hornbostel-Sachs ), indicating:
5 = Electrophones. Sound is generated by electrical means.
We had a character design course at school sometime in the autumn of 2012. One day i found an A4 copy paper with two plastic eyes glued to it. I tought they needed something around them. The song Vintage from Jean Michel Jarre's "Teo & Tea" album had been stuck inside my head the whole day. The ghosts are probably recording something like that. The guy in the lower right corner is really enjoying himself.
It is fun to draw with the black pen straight away, without all the pencilwork. It is a good way to train your ability to "see" a drawing inside your head. I do this ore and more.

Ihr Debut Album “Leaders of the Brew School“ dominiert seit seinem Erscheinen im August diesen Jahres die Top 10 einschlägiger Versandhäuser und ist bereits auf dem besten Weg ein echter Klassiker zu werden.
Als Solokünstler wissen Suff Daddy, Dexter und Brenk Sinatra schon lange wo der Bartel den Most holt. Kaum auszudenken, was passiert, wenn die drei zusammen die Bar entern.
Suff Daddy, der globtrottende Gin Connaisseur und Minimoog Player mit Adressen in Sydney, Berlin und Düsseldorf. Brenk Sinatra, der Wien-Kaisermühlen Homeboy, Westcoast Rapfanatic und Duzfreund von MC Eiht. Und last but not least Dexter, der Tripmaker und Platinproduzent mit Approbation aus 0711.
Drei Typen, die unterschiedlicher nicht sein könnten und von denen jeder mit seinem ganz eigenen Sound die Speaker poppt. Was sie verbindet ist eine gemeinsame Leidenschaft für dope geschnittene Beats und Hochprozentiges.
