Macro Monday - Smaller than a Coin
Found this tiny weenie weed growing in my garden and shot the photo on top of a pile of pound coins
I’ve been preserving this small pencil (totally used and consumed) since the middle school...a long time ago.
Mini (own spelling: MINI) is a new edition of the British small car Mini, created in early 2001 under the leadership of the BMW Group. Mini is both the designation for the individual models and the name of the main model.
Since I live in a state where people love to vacation - do I call it a "mini-vacation" when I am traveling along the very same roads that they are paying a small fortune to visit?
In this photo you can ride along with Doc and I as we travel over one of our favorite back roads. Notice that the fireweed running alongside of the pavement is blossoming near the top? Folklore tells us that we are nearing that "six weeks until winter" prediction. I sure hope that the fireweed plants are wrong this year.
To ride along - enlarge photo - hop in - and hang on. It's going to be a bumpy ride in places.

Marty found my collection of mini snow globes while helping me clean out my toy hoarding mess. Oh no! Careful Marty!!!!!!
I have never worked with Mini figurines before and wasn't sure what constitutes a "Mini" in size. So I set out to find and photograph the smallest figurines I could find. Here they are! Smallest (Duckling) is 3/8 inch long & largest (Mountain Goats) are each 7/8 of an inch long. They are gathered around a dime (for added size perspective of 6/8 of an inch wide), enjoying a Spring evening under the lights.
Theme: "minis"
Thank you for taking the time to view my photo, and for the faves and comments you make, thank you.
Mini-Wassermelonen
Mini watermelons
Discovered at a local farmers' market:
Red and yellow mini watermelons. These measure just 2,8 inches in diameter, about the size of a tennis ball, and grew in a local field in Styria (south-eastern Austria).
The seeds are the same size as those of the well-known, large variety and the taste is also the same.

a scattering of mini wildflower blooms that were gathered by a neighbors children and sold to us at our doorway for 20 cents......captured with a rock from my collection
We attended the 59th Annual Phoenix, Arizona Scottish Games (and festival) during the first weekend of March, 2024. It was actually located in Gilbert which is SE of Phoenix by several miles. There was a British Car display that was part of the show which included quite a few Austin Minis including this pickup truck version.
Happy Truck Thursday!
Mini jungle with native species still in this area. This area used to have wild cats, I don't know the species, called Maral in the local name, but due to rapid deforestation and people weren't aware of the significance of protecting wild animals native to this area,we lost them.

My mini version of the iconic ship, only made with 59 pieces. I could have made it smaller but I wanted to achieve the perfect balance between number of pieces and detail level. I have included the masts, the propeller, some windows...
Personally the best part is the way I have managed to tilt the chimneys.
Its a render but all the pieces exist in real.
Here is my outfit!
Please excuse my face, I woke up at 6:30 this morning out of excitement.
Leaving in an hour, woooo!
FONTANA VILLAGE NC: One of the entrants or supporters of the world famous [OK, at least in eastern U.S.A.] "Minis on the Dragon" road rally for Mini Coopers. I took this image a couple of years ago in the event's 7th season. If you want to attend, the 10th running of the "Minis on the Dragon" is just a couple of weeks off.
We just happened to be riding through Fontana Village when we spotted a 'whole bunch' of Minis lined up seemingly on display. We stopped, got out, walked around, and chatted with a number of folks. Everyone we met was great and each was eager to brag on his car. This event seems to appeal to men of all ages [and they even talk to each other regardless of age] who are out for a few days of motoring fun.

Assignment: PCA131– A Flash in the Pan
Nov 14 - 28, 2010
Image Tag: pca131
From: Mags_Tag (Margherita)
Mission:
How good are your panning skills? No, not for gold, rather synchronizing your camera's movement and a moving subject and clicking at the right time so that the subject is nice and sharp and in focus, and the rest is a lovely blur. How was that for a layman's explanation?
WIT
I went out yesterday with the express intention of shooting for this assignment. I wish that I had remembered to look up the assignment theme before yesterday because I had some opportunities to do panning this week that simply didn't occur to me until afterward!
I looked up instructions that suggested shutter speeds of 1/60 or 1/30 but I experimented with several variations.
I did have some where the car was sharper but this car begged to be the one I submitted - a Morris with racing stripes - who could resist?
This is a shot taken of a Mini Cooper S. The shot was taken with a Canon G10, ISO 100, Focal Length 9.8 mm at f/4 Exposure 1/160. During post additional dodging and burning in work was done to bring back shadow and highlight detail on the car then a slight crop to the image. Also background was drawn in and again drawn in over the body work to create reflections. Lighting was from a several Strobe Balls triggered with the on camera flash. This is not a CGI image.
