There is a place, beside a pond, where butterflies mingle and happily share a buffet of flowers.

I, who cannot stay in my chamber for a single day without acquiring some rust, and when sometimes I have stolen forth for a walk at the eleventh hour of four o'clock in the afternoon, too late to redeem the day, when the shades of night were already beginning to be mingled with the daylight, have felt as if I had committed some sin to be atoned for.

All the art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on.

Vancouver's False Creek area is a busy Urban center, and one where people live, walk, and meet. However, it is also home to many sail boats. While mizzens and masts begin their nightly slumber, the moon appears over head. It is joined by cooler temperatures as the evening sky transitions from day to night.

For a short period of time, both warm and cool colors come together in their ritual dialogue. All is reflected in the still waters and I end a conversation with a fellow photographer. Eventually she saunters off, while I continue in the opposite direction. Like the evening sky, we too mingle for a moment, only to continue on our way.

The migratory birds on our lake like to congregate together as it makes them less of a target for the eagles. It is not uncommon to see ducks, geese and coots mingled together.

Another shot of the same P97 as the previous post, except a couple hours earlier in the day when it was arriving and taken from the New Bern side of the bridge. A bass boat scurries through the soon to be closing swing bridge as the train waits its turn to move into the yard. Since it was the Fourth of July, boat traffic was higher than any other time of year, so the train had to wait a little longer than usual (usually they don't even need to wait at all).

My neighbor thinks I'm nuts.

I had just taken this photo, when my neighbor pokes his head in my garage. Apparently, a 120Hz tone blasted out of a subwoofer at 9 p.m. at night sounds a little like a transformer that's about ready to explode. Who knew?

And then there was some comment about squirrels...

Anyway.
