The Bat Flower (Tacca chantieri) also known as Black Bat Flower, Cats Whiskers, Devil Flower, Bat Head Lily, Bat Plant, Devil’s Tongue, Black Tacca, Voodoo Flower, is an exotic plant with flowers that mimic a bat in flight, deep purple, with ruffled wings and long, hanging filaments. Indoor blooms and those outside in semi-tropical climates may appear in spring and last until early autumn. Large, attractive leaves surround the bloom.
I originally thought this fellow was a bee mimic of some sort but Sylvester K has kindly identified it for us in the comments. Thank you Sylvester.
I found this little bee chap on the physocarpus - him and lots of his buddies. You can see his hind legs are a yellowish beige colour as is part of his underbelly and clearly give the impression of pollen sacs, but instead are in fact hairy. Quite noisy fellows also which is great as it makes them easier to locate for me :^)
I got a few photographs which was due to their number and noise because under normal circumstances I can go days and days and catch nothing vaguely presentable so this was very pleasing to me. It was also double lucky as I didn't realise I was on f4, thought I had a couple stops more than that but they still turned out okay. Chuckle.
Taken at the Cockrell Butterfly Center in Houston. I'm having difficulty identifying, although it could possibly be a Red Postman Mimic originally from Ecuador.

Northern Mockingbirds, the State Bird of Florida (and three other southern states), are great mimics, and they seemingly love to sing. The mockingbird's song was the inspiration for a classic country song, "Listen to the Mockingbird" (1855, Alice Hawthorne). The song, about a man's lament for his deceased wife, was popular during the Civil War, and has been recorded hundreds of times to the present day.

what was this all about. Time for storytellers to perform and..... scare
if we are curious about new and mysterious, about a beauty of unknown it is very well recommended to take adventure but be careful. Make always a way to come back, or fight ......

This hoverfly, a hornet mimic, is the size of a large hornet and sounds like one when flying but is completely harmless.
The female lays its eggs in the nests of hornets, wasps and bees so it grows up thinking of itself as one of those.
It is the largest hoverfly in the UK.
My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I'll walk alone
I walk alone and I walk
I walk this empty street
On the boulevard of broken dreams
When the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk.

ADVENTURE is the topic for Saturday, August 14, 2021, Group Our Daily Challenge.
it was a little adventure to suddenly see this giant insect and hope that I would take a picture of it before it escapes from the camera lens. 😄

What an amazing mimic! The Hummingbird Clearwing Moth flies and moves just like a hummingbird. It is perhaps one of the most delightful insect to visit the garden.
Mimic - Northern Mockingbird perched. These birds have an awesome vocal repertoire and very vigorous alarm calls. I actually have found a Bobcat once following their alarm calls and mobbing!

Bit of symmetry at Freshwater, Dorset a couple weeks back. Very nice of the wave to co-operate and mimic the shape of the cliff so nicely for me
