Setting sun viewed from inside Milton Clock.

This has obviously been a ruin for some time, considering the size of the trees growing in it. Great location though, right by the Hudson. Plenty of fireplaces.

Thank you all my Friends for your visits, faves, invites and wonderful comments .

NHN's plow extra works south along Milton Three Ponds in Milton, NH with GP18 1801 bracketed by a pair of MBTA Russell plows. A fresh snowfall the day before left the northern end of the line pretty well buried in snow, so it made for a good show. With plenty of ice on the lake I figured the 88 mile marker would be my best bet at avoiding a crowd.

Railtown, Vancouver. October 5, 2015.

A "Work Galt" Continuous Welded Rail train ducks underneath the wooden farmer's bridge outside Milton ON. In the lead is iconic SD40-2F CP 9017, nicknamed "red barn" for the red paint on their cowl body. It's always a fun time when one of the final 8 SD40-2Fs makes it out east. For 9017, it's the first time out here since 2020 and the first time it's led around Toronto since before it was sold to the CMQ railway in the 2010s.

Ok I know this place has become a bit of a cliche but its hard not to stop and capture its beauty especially on such a lovely still summers evening. After a disappointing attempt to get to the summit of Ben A'an for sunset I was left with where to go to try and get something of this glorious evening. So it was on passing Milton, at the foot of Loch Ard in Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, that I quickly parked up on the narrow road to try and salvage something. I like many others have images from here, although more notably known for its calm early morning mist in Autumn and Winter. It was so peaceful as the evening light fell over Ben Lomond in the background that I just had to stop, and I'm sure I will stop again in the future.

An early morning view across the valleys of western Dartmoor towards Milton Combe, captured from the summit of Brent Tor and at 190 mm. The mist lingered on for a good hour, giving me plenty of time to experiment with different compositions and focal lengths. Thanks for stopping by.

After work this past Tuesday I was able to catch DI-1 with just the 1801 ad caboose 100 on the way north. The Boston train was stuck in Plaistow below a crossing repair so they used GP18 1801 to pick up 12 empties from Rochester, return them to the pit for loads and bring them back to Dover for that night's Boston train. I figured they were already north of me when I got out of work, but was able to get a tip they were just northbound out of Rollinsford when I was leaving. Managed to catch dad hitching a ride north looking down at the Salmon Falls River in Milton, NH. The day was full of clouds and sun but the skies brightened up just before train time, a nice bonus for a sub-par day.

Rattlesnake Point receives its name from the snake-like path cut by glaciers along the edges of the Niagara Escarpment, rather than from the Massassauga Rattlesnake. It is one of the most scenic areas between Toronto and Hamilton, with old cedars, limestone cliffs, beautiful caves, and hiking trails. It is a United Nations Biosphere-protected area.

Thank you, my kind Flickr friends, for visiting my site and taking the time to leave a comment. Truly appreciated!

A trio of clean four axles adorned in primarily St. Paddy's Day green, power NHN D8 south past Milton Pond on March 14, 2024. The train of aggregates originated in Ossipee and is now running close to the New Hampshire/Maine state line, bound ultimately for Dover, (Boston) but not before working at Rochester first. Once the crew got to Rochester, so too did the foam brigade, so I broke off chase quite quickly.

WSOR train L468 is pulling through Milton Jct and is approaching the west leg of the wye. The track to the right goes to Janesville. I'm not sure how many units have these number boards with the smaller font, but this is the first one I recall seeing.

Taken in Milton Country Park in Milton which is now a suburb of Cambridge. So many of the small villages seem to be swamped and combined into the city and often lose their character.

The Borough of Milton is located in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. In 2020 it had a population of 6,609.

was a Benedictine foundation, but only part of the church now survives and is used as the Milton Abbey School chapel. A college of secular canons was founded here by King Athelstan, in 933, but this foundation was replaced in 964 by a Benedictine monastery by King Edgar. The medieval church burned down in 1309, and although rebuilding started straight away it did not reach its present size until about 1400.

One of the church's benefactors was Sir John Tregonwell, whose family came into the possession of the buildings in 1540 following the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1539.

In 1752, the buildings were bought by the Damer family in 1771, to make way for a new house and landscaped estate, the 1st Baron Milton (later 1st Earl of Dorchester) demolished the remaining abbey buildings, keeping only part of the church as a private chapel, and the adjacent market town of Milton (creating Milton Abbas to rehouse the former inhabitants) in 1780. The new house was designed by William Chambers and the gardens by Capability Brown.

We went out chasing the mist this morning but it was quicker than us. This was taken towards the sun and looks better, I think, in monochrome.

The Oakamoor 'Trip' on it's way back to Stoke.

Re-scans of two favorite shots from my time at Stoke on Trent, I think they were taken on Tuesday 23rd March 1976 when I was rostered 'spare'.
