While on a drive through Concession Rd.8 in Millgrove was able to capture a nice farm picture before the rain comes in.

CP trains 254/255 run between London, Ontario and Buffalo, NY on a one-day down, one day-back schedule. The timing of #255 was usually good for great light while heading north on the Hamilton Sub between Hamilton and Guelph Junction. Throw in the non-GE power that led the train at times (power tended to be captive for weeks at a time) and it generally attracted a crowd, as it did on this Saturday afternoon.

In the process of downloading photos from a couple of recent outings, I discovered a set of photos from last October that I never got around to downloading. I found a few keepers, including a red-bellied woodpecker that appears to be levitating.

Every year we go to Northland Nursery in Millgrove ON and there is always a song thrush nesting in some of the thicker plants. It becomes very agitated when you get near its nest. Rightly so. This is as close as I could get. This is an excellent place to purchase plants.

CP 9017 approaches Millgrove (Mile 67) of the Hamilton Sub on its way to drop some rail around Mile 65.

John James Audubon, eighteen years old at the time of his arrival, spent a majority of his time roaming the wooded hills along the Perkiomen Creek and the Schuylkill River hunting, observing, collecting and sketching. It was during this period that he experienced early stirrings of a fascination for wildlife that was to become his all-absorbing life interest. Inspired and captivated by his new surroundings, Audubon became a pioneer in portraying birds and other wildlife in natural settings. During his time at Mill Grove he built a substantial base of interest in ornithological art, and his experimentation resulted in rapid development of his skill as an artist

On Friday morning a wonderful fog touched down at Audubon. I would have missed it had it not been for a call from my daughter LittleUnit www.flickr.com/photos/littleunit/ Thank you sweetie!

A little tough to determine the texture here but it's from Jill again. Thanks Jill, love this one. www.flickr.com/photos/30725488@N00/3453593807/

Explored.

Mill Grove is the first home of John James Audubon in America and the only true Audubon home still standing in this country. The lovely estate, located in Lower Providence Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania was owned for 17 years by Audubon's father, Jean, a French sea captain. In 1803, Captain Audubon sent his youthful son John James to Mill Grove to supervise the estate that included a working lead mine.

A tree fern is prominent in the foreground, to the right the white flowers of Burgan / Leptospermum phylicoides stand out from the surrounding bush.

Taken on a moody, hazy day, this rather unusual barn had an unusually bright lawn as contrast. I happened to drive by a couple days later and all the dandelions had been mowed down...

Barn and silo are quite old, possibly 1930s?

Mill Grove, Audubon, PA

I was out for a walk and happened to have my camera with me when this doe popped up to say hello.

'Hawk' On White

This hawk was shot through a large caged in area with my long lens. I had a hard time capturing this beautiful bird because I was trying to focus on him, not the fence that was directly in front of him. I had to get the dof just right so that the fence did not show up. This was one of the shots that actually came out pretty well.
