NON HO LA SFERA DI CRITALLO PER SAPERE COME SARA' L'ANNO NUOVO.
Alla fine di dicembre è d'uso fare gli auguri di Buon Anno con la speranza che sia sempre migliore del precedente ma negli ultimi quattro, cinque anni le aspettative sono sempre state disattese, anzi, si sono dimostrati anni sempre peggiori dei precedenti, con l'apice di questo 2022 che ha presentato anche il conto dell'invasione della Russia nei confronti dell'Ucraina.
Quest'anno gli auguri non li faccio più sperando che il futuro sia più sereno e migliore per tutti.
Chi volesse ingrandire la mia foto, mi vedrebbe riflesso sulla superfice del vetro... è un mio modo personale per ringraziare tutti voi che mi seguite su questo bellissimo spazio di Flickr.

At the end of December it is customary to wish a Happy New Year with the hope that it will always be better than the previous one but in the last four, five years expectations have always been disregarded, indeed, years have proved to be increasingly worse than the previous ones, with the 'peak of this 2022 which also presented the bill for Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
This year I'm not sending my best wishes anymore, hoping that the future will be more serene and better for everyone.

This photographic story was made on the occasion of the "Laurel and Sacred Oils feast" which took place this year 2022 on Easter Monday in the Sicilian town of Forza D'Agrò (in the province of Messina), after a long stop due to the Covid-19 pandemic; this is a traditional event that has taken place for centuries with changes that have come about over the years, in fact once the population of Forza D'Agrò went in procession to the Norman monastery of Saints Peter and Paul where the Holy Oils were kept: this church is located in the village of Casalvecchio Siculo (Forza D'Agrò and Casalvecchio Siculo are located on two mountains, the two villages are visible to each other, since in ancient times this represented a very fast means to be able to communicate visually between them, in case of raids by Saracen pirates), this church was built by the Normans, it was originally located on the opposite side of where it is now located, this is because a flood of the Agrò river had endangered this structure, which had also been sacked by the Arabs, it was decided to secure it, it was completely dismantled, and then rebuilt, on the opposite side and further up from the river bed); the feast then took place when Roger II, called the Norman, granted the abbot Cerasino the possibility of rebuilding this abbey (diploma of donation of 1117), but not only ... the monks of this abbey were, again by Roger II, equipped with some fixed income, and even the complete ownership of an entire village, the current Forza D'Agrò, was given to them, with absolute power of the monks over the things and people of the village. Then, the Sacred Oils were brought from this Abbey to the church of San Michele Arcangelo (today a ruin) which is located in a district of Forza D'Agrò, with the population who used to adorn themselves for this procession with colored silk ribbons, to which over time, laurel branches were added, also carried by devotees in procession. The festival is essentially based on three strongly symbolic elements, the laurel, the Holy Oil, and the "cuddure". "The laurel" represents the "victory of Christ over Death", in fact the festival takes place on the "Day of the Angel, during the Easter period", a day that recalls that the Resurrection of Christ took place; laurel is a strongly symbolic and fragrant plant, it is used in this context, for elaborate compositions that adorn "the banners", they can be small because they are made by children, up to very large and high (difficult to hold up when there is wind due to the strong "sail effect" they cause), are made with load-bearing structures made of cane or wood, which serve to hold the fabrics on which they are sewn one by one, laurel leaves, creating drawings of a religious nature, banners that participate in a competition for the best realization (each banner in fact carries a number, as a reference for the voting jury); "Holy Oil", an element used for anointing the sick and invoking their healing, represents "redemption from sin" and "spiritual healing", is carried in procession, also a symbol of the Holy Spirit who embraces the body and soul of man and that refers to Christ, "the Anointed"; finally "the cuddure" (they are small circular loaves, with naturally leavened intertwined and dough, on which a symbol is imprinted), and they symbolize "prosperity", but also "charity", and that is why the brothers of the SS. Trinity distribute them to the people present at the feast as a sign of gift. This year, however, due to the restrictions of Covid-19, the "cuddure" did not take place, the "blessing of the Holy Oils" was performed in the Mother Church, and not in the characteristic square in the center of the town , while the procession was made along a short route, and not along the traditional route which, after having crossed the center of the town, then circumscribes it along its entire periphery. As explained above, this festival is also called "'a festa d'u d'auru" (the laurel feast), or "' the feast of cudduredde" (the feast of small donut-shaped loaves); the "banners awarding" will close this characteristic feast, to the great joy of all those who participated.

Questo racconto fotografico, è stato realizzato in occasione della “festa dell’Alloro e degli Oli Sacri” che si è svolta quest’anno 2022 il giorno del Lunedì dell’Angelo nel paese siciliano di Forza D’Agrò (in provincia di Messina), dopo un lungo stop a causa della pandemia da Covid-19; è questo un evento tradizionale che si svolge da secoli con delle modifiche che sono venute a crearsi negli anni, infatti un tempo la popolazione di Forza D’Agrò andava in processione fino al monastero normanno dei Santi Pietro e Paolo ove erano custoditi gli Oli Santi: tale chiesa si trova nel paese di Casalvecchio Siculo (Forza D’Agrò e Casalvecchio Siculo si trovano su due monti, i due paesi sono visibili l’un l’altro, poiché anticamente questo rappresentava un mezzo rapidissimo per poter comunicare visivamente tra loro, in caso di scorribande di pirati saraceni), tale chiesa fu costruita dai Normanni, essa originariamente si trovava sul versante opposto rispetto a dove è situata ora, questo perchè una piena del fiume d’Agrò aveva messo in pericolo tale struttura, ma essa era anche stata saccheggiata dagli Arabi, si decise così di metterla in sicurezza, fu smontata completamente, per poi essere riedificata, sul versante opposto e più distante in alto rispetto al letto del fiume); la festa quindi ebbe luogo quando Ruggero II, detto il Normanno, concesse all’abate Cerasino la possibilità di riedificare tale abazia (diploma di donazione del 1117), ma non solo…i monaci di tale abazia furono, sempre da Ruggero II, dotati di alcuni redditi fissi, ed addirittura venne data a loro la completa proprietà di un intero villaggio, l’attuale Forza D’Agrò, con assoluto potere dei monaci su cose e persone del villaggio. Quindi, gli Oli Sacri venivano portati da tale Abazia alla chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo (oggi un rudere) che si trova in una contrada di Forza D’Agrò, con la popolazione che anticamente usava adornarsi per tale processione con nastri di seta colorati, ai quali col tempo, sono andati ad aggiungersi i rami di alloro, portati anche questi dai devoti in processione. La festa si basa essenzialmente su tre elementi fortemente simbolici, l’alloro, l’Olio Santo, e le “cuddure”. “L’alloro” rappresenta la “vittoria del Cristo sulla Morte”, infatti la festa si svolge il “Giorno dell’Angelo” durante il periodo Pasquale, giorno che rievoca che è avvenuta la Resurrezione del Cristo; l’alloro è una pianta fortemente simbolica e profumata, essa viene utilizzata in questo contesto, per elaborate composizioni che adornano “gli stendardi”, i quali sono dei drappi-vessilli, possono essere di piccole dimensioni perché realizzati dai bambini, fino a molto grandi ed alti (difficili da reggere quando c’è vento per il forte “effetto vela” che essi causano), sono realizzati con delle strutture portanti fatte di canna o di legno, che servono a reggere le stoffe sulle quali vengono cucite una ad una, le foglie di alloro, realizzando dei disegni di carattere religioso, stendardi che partecipano ad una gara per la migliore realizzazione (ogni stendardo infatti porta un numero, come riferimento per la giuria votante); “l’Olio Santo” è un elemento usato per l’unzione dei malati ed invocarne la guarigione, rappresenta la “redenzione dal peccato” e la “guarigione spirituale”, viene portato in processione (insieme a delle foglie di alloro), anch’esso simbolo dello Spirito Santo che abbraccia corpo ed anima dell’uomo e che rimanda a Cristo, “l’Unto”; infine “le cuddure” (sono dei piccoli pani di forma circolare, con la pasta lievitata naturalmente ed intrecciata, su cui è impresso un simbolo), esse simboleggiano la “prosperità”, ma anche la “carità”, è per questo che i confrati della SS. Trinità li distribuiscono alle persone presenti alla festa in segno di dono. Quest’anno però, a causa delle restrizioni causate dal Covid-19, le “cuddure” non si sono fatte, la “benedizione degli Oli Santi” è stata eseguita nella Chiesa Madre, e non nella caratteristica piazza che si trova nel centro del paese, mentre la processione è stata fatta lungo un breve percorso, e non lungo il percorso tradizionale, molto più lungo, che dopo aver attraversato il centro del paese, poi lo circoscrive lungo tutta la sua periferia. Per quanto esposto prima, tale festa viene chiamata anche "a’ festa d'u d'auru" (la festa dell'alloro), oppure "a’ festa di cudduredde" (la festa dei piccoli pani a forma di ciambella); la "premiazione degli stendardi" chiude questa caratteristica festa, tra la grandissima gioia di tutti coloro che vi hanno partecipato.

Sono da poco scoccate le 19:00 di un caldo sabato sera quando la foto più attesa del weekend viene finalmente realizzata: una BR 101 con un InterCity FFS alle porte di Herrenberg transita nella migliore luce immaginabile. Per la gioia dei diversi fotografi raccoltisi, tutte le sei vetture hanno ancora la vecchia livrea mostrando un piacevole quadretto uniforme.
Es ist kurz nach 19 Uhr an einem warmen Samstagabend, als endlich das am sehnlichsten erwartete Foto des Wochenendes gemacht wird: Eine BR 101 mit einem InterCity der SBB am Stadtrand von Herrenberg fährt im besten Licht vorbei. Zur Freude der versammelten Fotografen sind alle sechs Wagen noch in ihrer alten Lackierung und geben ein erfreulich einheitliches Bild ab.

the photos presented here were taken on the occasion of two weddings, observing with an external but participatory eye, the great event that is created outside the churches before and after the religious wedding ceremonies, due to the presence of friends, relatives, parents (and, as a side dish, also curious and tourists, in fact there we find in Taormina) .... all wearing the best smile (now covered by masks), and the best dress, women exhibit original or showy hairstyles, embellished with some jewels, while men show off ties and socks sometimes too short, wearing polished shoes. The two religious ceremonies took place a few days apart from each other, before the decree of the President of the Council of Ministers of 24/10/2020, one in the church of San Giuseppe, the other in the Minor Basilica (ex Duomo), both of Taormina (Sicily).
The photos unfold presenting sometimes a temporal succession of the same marriage, other times from one ceremony to another; I used a photographic technique at the time of shooting, which in addition to capturing the surrounding space, also "inserted" a temporal dimension: in fact, most of the photos are confused-blurry-blurred-imprecise-indecisive ... the Anglo-Saxon term that encompasses with a single word this photographic genre is "blur", these photos were made in the shooting phase, deliberately lengthening the exposure, and not as an effect created subsequently, in retrospect, in the post-production phase.

le foto qui presentate sono state colte in occasione di due matrimoni, osservando con occhio esterno ma partecipe, la grande kermesse che si viene a creare fuori dalle chiese prima e dopo le cerimonie religiose nuziali, per la presenza di amici, parenti, genitori (e, a far da contorno, anche curiosi e turisti, infatti ci troviamo a Taormina)....indossando tutti il migliore sorriso (coperto oramai dalle mascherine), ed il migliore abito, le donne esibiscono acconciature originali o vistose, ingraziosite di qualche gioiello, mentre gli uomini sfoggiano cravatte e calzini a volte troppo corti , calzando scarpe tirate a lucido. Le due cerimonie religiose si sono svolte a pochi giorni di distanza l'una dall'altra, prima del DPCM del 24/10/2020, una nella chiesa di San Giuseppe, l'altra nella Basilica Minore (ex Duomo), entrambe di Taormina (Sicilia); le foto si dipanano presentando a volte una successione temporale dello stesso matrimonio, altre volte da una cerimonia si passa all'altra; ho utilizzato una tecnica fotografica al momento dello scatto, che oltre ad aver catturato lo spazio circostante, ha anche "inserito" una dimensione temporale: infatti, la maggior parte delle foto sono confuse-mosse-sfocate-imprecise-indecise...il termine anglosassone che racchiude con una sola parola questo genere fotografico è "blur", queste foto sono state così realizzate in fase di scatto allungando volutamente i tempi di esposizione, e non come un effetto creato successivamente, a posteriori, in fase di post-produzione.

Went to Sicily for a wedding, and of course i couldnt help paying a vist to the nature reserve of Vendicari. A bit out of season i know, to see the real action i have to go back in December, but it wasnt all that bad... there were a few birds i hadnt seen before. like the Spoonbill and the Hoopoe.
The only thing is that they were so freaking far away, so i was on max zoom (with the extender as well) so some footage are a bit shakey because of that.
Visto che mi trovavo in Sicilia per un matrimonio, ho fatto un salto a Vendicari. Lo so che per vedere i fenicotteri e altri uccelli il periodo migliore è Dicembre, ma cmq non era male anche a Giugno, ho visto un bel po di Upupa, e la Spatola :)
(Erano un po troppo lontani, quindi i video sono un po mosse perchè ero zommato a palla.

Capanno Surprise - Inverno 2018
Alcuni mesi fa mi è capitato di assistere a questa scena.....adrenalina a mille, purtroppo pero' data la distanza di oltre 30 m non è uno scatto di qualità'.
Ho preso e ripreso piu' volte il file nel tentativo di renderlo "migliore" anche perché sottoposto ad un crop generoso, ma l'ho sempre riposto. Vi dico francamente che se fosse stato un altro soggetto il file sarebbe stato cestinato da tempo.
Ieri, per l'ennesima volta, mi è ricapitato per le mani e mi sono detto:" Perché no!!"
In fondo si tratta di una scena pazzesca e quasi sicuramente irripetibile....perchè non condividerla.
Siate clementi.

Some months ago I happened to witness this scene ... adrenaline racing, unfortunately, given the distance of more than 30 m is not a quality shot.
I've taken and retaken several times the file in an effort to make it "better" because a generous crop, but I always placed. I tell you frankly that if it was another subject the file would have been trashed by time.
Yesterday, for the umpteenth time, I live for my hands and I said to myself: "why not!"
Basically it is a crazy scene and almost certainly unique, why not share it.
Be lenient.

Le parc national Moremi Game Reserve s'étend à l'est et au centre de la région. Des pirogues y sont utilisées pour naviguer parmi les hippopotames, les éléphants et les crocodiles. La meilleure période pour visiter le delta de l'Okavango se situe entre mai et septembre, lorsque les impressionnantes zones humides du delta attirent d'innombrables animaux du désert du Kalahari.
🇬🇧 The Okavango Delta is famous for its vast green plains, which flood in season and become a lush habitat for animals. The Moremi Game Reserve stretches across the east and centre of the region. Pirogues are used to navigate among the hippos, elephants and crocodiles. The best time to visit the Okavango Delta is between May and September, when the delta's impressive wetlands attract countless animals from the Kalahari Desert.

Alice non abita più qui (Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore) è un film del 1974 diretto da Martin Scorsese.

L’esposizione prolungata all’umidità e agli agenti atmosferici provoca l’innesco di fenomeni di corrosione di manufatti ferrosi o leghe contenenti ferro, come l’acciaio. La corrosione del ferro consiste in una complessa reazione elettrochimica, catalizzata dall’acqua e accelerata da acidi e sali, nella quale il ferro si combina con l’ossigeno a formare ossidi di ferro, tra cui l’ossido ferrico Fe2O3 bruno-rossiccio, comunemente noto come ruggine. Pirano è situata sulla penisola istriana, nel golfo di Pirano ed è bagnata dal mare Adriatico. Il centro storico della città si trova su una piccola penisola circondata dal mare su tre lati e dalle mura risalenti al settimo secolo d.C.
Il periodo migliore per visitare questa piccola cittadina costiera è ovviamente quello estivo, quando è possibile conciliare il turismo culturale con quello balneare. Per coloro che non amano molto la folla, è però consigliabile visitare la città, lontano dalle festività e dai ponti, in primavera.

🇫🇷 Haut perchée et dominant la plage, la vieille ville d’Ulcinj (Stari Grad) est très différente de celle de Kotor ou de Budva. Beaucoup plus résidentielle que ces dernières, la vieille ville d’Ulcinj est un vrai dédale de rues tout en pente, où l’on se perd facilement. A l’intérieur, quelques bars et restaurants, mais pas de commerces et de boutiques souvenirs, ce qui en fait son charme. Le mieux est donc d’errer en fin d’après-midi dans ces ruelles, avant de se poser sur les remparts pour admirer le coucher de soleil teinter la mer de rose.
🇬🇧 Perched high above the beach, the old town of Ulcinj (Stari Grad) is very different from that of Kotor or Budva. Much more residential than the latter, the old town of Ulcinj is a real maze of steep streets, where it's easy to get lost. Inside, there are a few bars and restaurants, but no shops or souvenir shops, which is what gives it its charm. The best thing to do is to wander through the narrow streets in the late afternoon, before settling down on the ramparts to admire the sunset over the pink sea.

Die Altstadt von Ulcinj ist ein wahres Labyrinth von Straßen, die steil nach oben führen und in denen man sich leicht verirren kann. Im Inneren gibt es einige Bars und Restaurants, aber keine Geschäfte oder Souvenirläden, was den Charme der Stadt ausmacht. Am besten streift man am späten Nachmittag durch diese Gassen, bevor man sich auf der Stadtmauer niederlässt, um den Sonnenuntergang zu beobachten, der das Meer rosa färbt.

Molto più residenziale di quest'ultima, la città vecchia di Ulcinj è un vero e proprio labirinto di strade ripide, in cui è facile perdersi. All'interno si trovano alcuni bar e ristoranti, ma non negozi o botteghe di souvenir, il che è ciò che le conferisce il suo fascino. La cosa migliore da fare è girovagare per le stradine nel tardo pomeriggio, prima di sistemarsi sui bastioni per ammirare il tramonto sul mare rosa.
🇪🇸 Encaramado en lo alto de la playa, el casco antiguo de Ulcinj (Stari Grad) es muy diferente del de Kotor o Budva. Mucho más residencial que estas últimas, el casco antiguo de Ulcinj es un laberinto de calles empinadas, donde es fácil perderse. En su interior hay algunos bares y restaurantes, pero no tiendas ni comercios de souvenirs, que es lo que le da su encanto. Lo mejor es pasear por sus callejuelas a última hora de la tarde, antes de instalarse en las murallas para admirar la puesta de sol sobre el mar rosado.

LE SIRENE SI SONO DATE UNA CALMATA.
Per il tema Macro Mondays di oggi pensavo ad un soggetto futile e non impegnativo ma il risultato migliore l'ho ottenuto con questa autoambulanza in miniatura ed il pensiero è corso immediatamente al ruolo fondamentale che questi mezzi di soccorso hanno svolto in tempo di pandemia.
Chi si scorderà mai delle continue sirene che ad ogni ora del giorno e della notte ci creava angoscia ed un senso di paura che prima o poi potesse correre anche per noi....
Se finalmente si può dire che l'emergenza è alle spalle il merito va sopratutto alla vaccinazione di massa che ci sta riportando ad una vita pressochè normale.

For today's Macro Mondays theme I was thinking of a futile and undemanding subject but I got the best result with this miniature ambulance and the thought immediately ran to the fundamental role that these rescue vehicles have played in times of pandemic.
Who will ever forget the constant sirens that at any hour of the day and night created anguish and a sense of fear that sooner or later could run for us too ....
If we can finally say that the emergency is behind us, the credit goes above all to the mass vaccinations that are bringing us back to an almost normal life.

the photos presented here were taken on the occasion of two weddings, observing with an external but participatory eye, the great event that is created outside the churches before and after the religious wedding ceremonies, due to the presence of friends, relatives, parents (and, as a side dish, also curious and tourists, in fact there we find in Taormina) .... all wearing the best smile (now covered by masks), and the best dress, women exhibit original or showy hairstyles, embellished with some jewels, while men show off ties and socks sometimes too short, wearing polished shoes. The two religious ceremonies took place a few days apart from each other, before the decree of the President of the Council of Ministers of 24/10/2020, one in the church of San Giuseppe, the other in the Minor Basilica (ex Duomo), both of Taormina (Sicily).
The photos unfold presenting sometimes a temporal succession of the same marriage, other times from one ceremony to another; I used a photographic technique at the time of shooting, which in addition to capturing the surrounding space, also "inserted" a temporal dimension: in fact, most of the photos are confused-blurry-blurred-imprecise-indecisive ... the Anglo-Saxon term that encompasses with a single word this photographic genre is "blur", these photos were made in the shooting phase, deliberately lengthening the exposure, and not as an effect created subsequently, in retrospect, in the post-production phase.

le foto qui presentate sono state colte in occasione di due matrimoni, osservando con occhio esterno ma partecipe, la grande kermesse che si viene a creare fuori dalle chiese prima e dopo le cerimonie religiose nuziali, per la presenza di amici, parenti, genitori (e, a far da contorno, anche curiosi e turisti, infatti ci troviamo a Taormina)....indossando tutti il migliore sorriso (coperto oramai dalle mascherine), ed il migliore abito, le donne esibiscono acconciature originali o vistose, ingraziosite di qualche gioiello, mentre gli uomini sfoggiano cravatte e calzini a volte troppo corti , calzando scarpe tirate a lucido. Le due cerimonie religiose si sono svolte a pochi giorni di distanza l'una dall'altra, prima del DPCM del 24/10/2020, una nella chiesa di San Giuseppe, l'altra nella Basilica Minore (ex Duomo), entrambe di Taormina (Sicilia); le foto si dipanano presentando a volte una successione temporale dello stesso matrimonio, altre volte da una cerimonia si passa all'altra; ho utilizzato una tecnica fotografica al momento dello scatto, che oltre ad aver catturato lo spazio circostante, ha anche "inserito" una dimensione temporale: infatti, la maggior parte delle foto sono confuse-mosse-sfocate-imprecise-indecise...il termine anglosassone che racchiude con una sola parola questo genere fotografico è "blur", queste foto sono state così realizzate in fase di scatto allungando volutamente i tempi di esposizione, e non come un effetto creato successivamente, a posteriori, in fase di post-produzione.

I know I have been very lucky to watch this incredible sky. When I am about to take a picture, I always try to think to myself what words I would write to describe what I feel. In this case, my mind went silent. I left my good memory burn with the sky and think that, after all, the imposed silence is the best solution for the dreamer's heart. I let my body lying down in the middle of the lawn and just let the fantasy run; I was suddenly in another galaxy, thousand light-years away from the boring part of our planet world.
And if you feel something by looking at this photo, you will know what I mean.
So che sono stato molto fortunato a vedere un cielo incredibile come questo. Quando sto per scattare una foto, cerco sempre di pensare fra me e me le parole che vorrei scrivereper descrivere ciò che provo. In questo caso, la mia mente è rimasta in silenzio. Ho lasciato dei bei ricordi a bruciare con il cielo e mi sono messo a pensare che, dopo tutto, quel silenzio obbligato era la soluzione migliore per il cuore del sognatore. Mi sono sdraiato nel bel mezzo del prato e ho lasciato correre la fantasia.
All'improvviso ero lontano, in un'altra galassia, a migliaia di anni luce dalla parte noiosa del nostro pianeta. E chi sente qualcosa nel guardare questa foto, saprà cosa voglio dire.
