The official midsummer holiday, as against the solstice.
In my picture it seems to be a guy’s thing, putting together the midsummer pole.
Tradition is very important in this part of the world. Every part of the midsummer pole has a symbolic meaning, and everyone, and every village, does a slightly different pole. Once the pole is put up it stays there for the rest of the year.
We had been invited to this family gathering because we were staying with Anna-Lena and it was one of her twin brothers who does this every year. It was really interesting and fun to get a look in, and take part in the celebration.

Place filled with tourists.Mostly from Japan,Germany,China and who have acute hearing of music.
This is Jean Sibelius's monument.. So they come and pay their respect. His house and grave is not far from capital of Finland(Helsinki).His museum house was call Ainola in Järvenpää city . Aino was his beloved wife's name and his grave was extremely well kept in his estate. I think He liked Green.

A side view of the statue taken on August 6, so it was the date right on the Midsummer path. The allium were a little late this year, not sure why. Also, all varieties of milkweed have died out in July including the butterfly weed which was such a big part of the bloom on the native side of the path. Presumably it was a fungus in the soil in this area which has not (so far) affected the volunteers that have come up in other parts of the garden.
As you can see, I removed the inside month dividers around the garden as it seemed a little cluttered.

Turning The Play Into A Ballet
When beginning to choreograph a ballet based on a play the choreographer must take into account the opportunities and limitations that exist for animations in Second Life. In the case of A Midsummer Night's Dream, choreographer Babylon Sierot has chosen to concentrate on the central section of Shakespeare's play, the realm of the faries. It is in the world of these ethereal beings that she feels dance best lends itself to expanding the story. Although some of the complexities of the written word may be lost, the magic, grace and humor of the play find a sure ally in dance. The grace and lightness one associates with a fairy such as Titania are qualities that classical dancers aspire to as well. Dance has also been integrated into these scenes in many versions of the play.

The midsummer celebrations in Frederiksberg Gardens. 30,000 people in all this year. We sing old Danish songs and orchestras play.
It all rounds off with the burning of an effigy of a witch. For 1000 years we've lit bonfires on midsummer to protect the crops from 'evil eyes' - later, when religion was invented, we burn witch effigies.
