2xA3 Poster Series for my university // ©2009. (uni project)
Left: This would be the main poster for the MDX University Degree Show.
Right: This one is specialized for the Graphic Design, Photography and Illustration department.
The concept was that they will look and work as a series for the Middlesex University Degree Show '09!
I used PF Fusion Sans Pro Heavy by Parachute®.
Older tryout for an Image Based Design zine cover (& logo form) under the same name that was prepared during Middlesex University's Graphic Design class, Year 2.
University Project - December 2008.
So here is how the story goes: I took this Image Based class/project while I was studying Graphic Design in Middlesex University of London. There were these two projects/(maga)zines the tutor had launched and we had to do some spreads based on image editing. We had to pick a dead person of our choice, print the image and use any kind of method like gluing, ripping, painting (strictly black, white & red acrylics or pastels)... stuff like that. After we would somehow manually edit the image, we had to create messages based on the character we had chosen and also make a few double page spreads and submit them @ Exit magazine & F!RE magazine.
I chose Ian Curtis because he was a very emotional and expressive man and I understood and appreciated his work after listening to his music for several years and watching his biography documentary recently after the release of "CONTROL" movie.
The main portrait edit I did of his, is called "HATE" as Curtis was wearing a jacket with the same quote on the back and stands ironically to the whole situation. His left eye cries blood which somehow connects to his suicide/death and his right one cries "HATE".
Middlesex University will be abandoning their campus at Trent Park in August 2012. Meanwhile it is linked to Oakwood station by a frequent contract bus service running daily and operated by Golden Boy Coaches. The campus incorporates this grand house, which was a haunt of high society in the 1930's. What will happen to the site is currently not known - what is certain is that this bus service will cease. There are regular open days at the house - a visit is highly recommended.
Poster I designed back in Autumn 2008 during my 2nd year in Graphics @ Middlesex University of London. Topic based on brief we were given.
The London Secret Gardens type is custom, made with fresh grass and then photographed- p.s. no plants were harmed during the making
LIMBO无间
LIMBO无间 is a breath-catching and highly physical dance work by female choreographers Zhibo Zhao (China) and Avatâra Ayuso (Spain). Grove Grove Studio Theatre Middlesex University, London. 2019.
Concept & Choreography: Avatâra Ayuso and Zhibo Zhao
Dancers: Avatâra Ayuso, George Baan, Chloe Hillyar, JiaoLong Ma, Zhibo Zhao
Dramaturgy: Donald Hutera

We were given this brief in Middlesex university to design a poster for Buy Nothing Day, early Autumn 2008.
I really wanted to do more-like one of these big ad poster series I see in the tube with simple type and photography.
The first idea was to choose a boy and a girl to run in the parking area of a super market as if they were drunk, really enjoying the ride- something they would do instead of shopping. I didn't find the right guy, but I was lucky enough to meet this girl Ismini, through a friend I knew and she was ideal for what I had in mind, even if I had to shoot her alone. We also run on few boys in the parking area of the market and they offered to enter the photo shooting but I didn't like the result as much so I went for the three versions I've uploaded. But if I had to go for one, I'd definitely go for this one!
Unfortunately I didn't own a good camera and all the cameras in uni were borrowed/gone, so I am thankful to my ex-flatmate Fenia, whom I took with me and we both started shooting. It was fun! We also knicked a few croissants off the shelves and we fed our model too. It was all about Buy Nothing Day afterall, so it felt just about right ;p

SMASHfestUK 2018 - Living in Space
"If the world really was devastated by natural disaster, we might have no option except to look to space for a new home for civilisation - could it be the Moon? Could we live on Mars? What would it take to build a world in outer space? How could we resource ourselves out is space?" This was the question that drove our big Living in Space collaborative project through 2017, into 2018. Working with over 6000 members of the public across the UK, during 6 different events; bringing together 5 universities, 4 schools, 2 museums, a software company, Astrocymru and the Royal Astronomical Society, we created a multi-part, semi-immersive experience which debuted at SMASHfestUK FLOOD! 2018 in Deptford.
SMASHfestUK joined with Middlesex University, Deptford Green School, Llangatwg Community School, Haberdashers’ Aske’s Hatcham College, Christ The King Sixth Form School, Monster Paw Games, Kerbal Space Program, Swansea University, Cardiff University, The National Museum of Wales, The Royal Observatory, Greenwich, Queen Mary University London, AstroCymru, and Dr. Sheila Kanani and Dr Lucinda Offer of the Royal Astronomical Society, in a project ‘Living in Space’ funded by the Science and Technology Facilities Council. Building on projects funded by the UK Space Agency ‘Space for All’ and the Royal Academy of Engineering ‘INGENIOUS’, exploring ideas and creating experiences with a diverse group of public visitors, young people, and engineering, design, mathematics and science professional experts.

SMASHfestUK 2018: FLOOD! returned to its home community - Deptford – for a glorious, 5-day FREE festival from 12th-16th February 2018. An enormous mash-up of immersive experiences, comedy, experiments, games, art, music, den-building, storytelling and much, much more for all ages, it was the biggest festival yet, with audiences up by over 30% on 2107.
Here are pictures from the Albany Theatre Foyer and Cafe. Check out the full line-up at: smashfestuk.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/2018FLOODPROG.pdf
This year - Deptford was at risk of a big FLOOD! Climate change had driven a huge storm surge frown the North Sea. What would happen if the Thames burst its banks and Deptford became submerged? How would we survive? How could we escape? If Deptford turned into wetlands - what would we live in? What food would we live on? And if we got into seriously deep water and the whole Earth was under threat - could we find another home somewhere living in space?
This year’s activities included interactive science sand-pits, games, demonstrations and experiments, a sensory room, virtual reality space tours, a murder-mystery court case, a game of infective detectives, den-building, variety performances, opportunities to “meet the mosquitoes”, build your own hologram, our inspiring, family-friendly play, Cosmic Jives and much much more.
Last year, SMASHfestUK 2017: SUPERVOLCANO was a huge success, entertaining nearly 2000 people over the course of the half-term holiday. Back for 2018, we were even bigger and better than before!
SMASHfestUK is a STEM/Arts (STEAM) organization, festival series & movement founded in 2015 with the aim of widening participation & increasing diversity (gender, ethnic & socio-economic) in STEM & the Arts education and professions, & increasing social inclusion in undeserved communities, underrepresented groups, in neglected areas. SMASHfestUK couldn’t do what we do - FOR FREE! - without the amazing support of our visionary partners and funders. Around SMASHfestUK we’ve created a new way of bringing together funders, universities, community groups, schools, industry and cultural institutions and connecting them meaningfully with neglected communities. We’ve been touring the UK through 2017 with our SOMUCH/Earth and Sky Tour, building new collaborations and creating positive impact - building STEM and Cultural Capital (STEAM Capital) with underserved groups and underrepresented people, in areas with multiple indicators of poverty. WE THANK YOU ALL! AND HOPE YOU”LL CONTINUE WITH US ON OUR JOURNEY - FIGHTING FOR SOCIAL INCLUSION AND EQUITABLE OPPORTUNIES FOR ALL in STEM and the Arts.
