The Indian equity benchmarks rebounded strongly on Friday after facing intense selling pressure in the previous two sessions on the back of a broad-based buying interest. The Sensex rose over 500 points and the Nifty 50 index reclaimed its important psychological level of 14,500. After two days of steep declines the benchmarks went into oversold zone and staged a bounce back on account of short covering, analysts said.As of 9:16 am, the Sensex rose 0.9 per cent or 444 points to 48,884 and Nifty 50 index advanced 161 points or 1.12 per cent to 14,486.Overnight, dollar rallied to four-month highs and global equity benchmarks edged higher Thursday as investors looked past rising coronavirus cases in Europe and focused on signs that the US economy was rebounding from the pandemic faster than anticipated.On Wall Street, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 200.81 points, or 0.62 per cent, to 32,620.87, the S&P 500 gained 20.59 points, or 0.53 per cent, to 3,909.73 and the Nasdaq Composite added 15.79 points, or 0.12 per cent, to 12,977.68.Back home, buying was visible across the board as all the 11 sector gauges compiled by the National stock Exchange were trading higher led by the Nifty PSU Bank index's 1.5 per cent gain. Bank Nifty, Auto, Financial Services, FMCG, Private Bank and Realty indexes also rose over 1 per cent.Mid- and small-cap shares were also witnessing buying interest as Nifty Midcap 100 index rose 1.2 per cent and Nifty Smallcap 100 index advanced 1 per cent.

Closing Bell : The BSE Sensex closed 465.28 points down at 27827.53 on Thursday, while Nifty settled 153.90 points down at 8591.25. Benchmark indices plunged after Defence Ministry confirmed that India conducted surgical strikes on Pakistan terrorist camps on Wednesday night in the aftermath of Uri attack. In broader market, all BSE sectors have ended up in negative zone, where SmallCap index has lost 4.02% and MidCap index has lost 3.60%. Bharti Airtel, TCS and Zee Entertain are the Top Gainers, while BHEL, Adani Ports, Aurobindo Pharm, Hindalco and ICICI Bank are the Top Losers today.

Opening Bell: The 30-share BSE Sensex slipped 221.81 points to 28823.47 and the 50-share NSE Nifty lost 74.50 points to 8878. The broader markets also traded in line with benchmarks with the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices losing 0.7 percent each. About 1167 shares declined against 828 advancing shares on the exchange. HDFC, ITC, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors and Axis Bank were top contributors to Sensex’s fall, down 1.5-2 percent whereas TCS, ONGC, Reliance Industries, Wipro and Dr Reddy’s Labs bucked the trend. In Asian Market, Japan’s index Nikkei is trading up by 0.12% and Hong Kong’s index Heng Seng is trading 1.42% up.

Closing Bell : Equity benchmarks reversed gains in last hour of trade with the Sensex falling 228 points intraday Wednesday as the Reserve Bank defied expectations of rate cut by keeping repo rate unchanged and lowered GVA estimates. However, the fall was arrested after the RBI decided to withdraw incremental CRR from December 10. The 30-share BSE Sensex was down 155.89 points at 26236.87, and the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 41.10 points at 8102.05 after hitting an intraday low of 8077.50 and high of 8190.45. However, the broader markets outperformed as fall in Midcap index restricted to 0.16 percent. The market is expected to be rangebound after pricing in the surprise move by the RBI.The Reserve Bank of India today unexpectedly kept the policy repo rate under the liquidity adjustment facility unchanged at 6.25 percent and cash reserve ratio at 4 percent but The market breadth turned negative as about 1519 shares declined against 1084 advancing shares on the BSE.

Reliance Industries, Sun Pharma, Wipro and Cipla gained over 1 percent while L&T and Coal India fell 1-2 percent.
Sensex remains below 27000; midcap, smallcap outperform
The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices gained 0.4 percent and 0.77 percent, respectively. Advancing shares outnumbered declining ones by a ratio of 1707 to 1223 on the BSE.
After a tough struggle, the market ended on a lower note. The Sensex was down 244.48 points or 0.9 percent at 26816.56 and the Nifty slipped 63.50 points or 0.8 percent at 8042.00. About 1750 shares advanced, 1310 shares declined, and 96 shares were unchanged.
