When the Basic Stamp II microcontroller board is cabled to a PC running the Basic Stamp Editor program, my control program displays this terminal output on the screen after each press of the start button. It displays the control codes sent to the Firecracker transmitter, the DIP switch settings, and the resulting valve times used to deliver the drops.
Prototype. It's working with red pointer. Switching frequency depends of position of POTs.
Maximum - 5KHz.

Put this together to add as a photo for a review of these parts I ordered. Figured the custom text would show it was a real review and not a bot of some sort as can often be the case for a lot of low cost stuff.
chipKIT uC32: Basic Microcontroller Board with Uno R3 Headers
The uC32 features a USB serial port interface for connection to the IDE and can be powered via USB or an external power supply. The board takes advantage of the powerful PIC32MX340F512 microcontroller, which features a 32-bit MIPS processor core running at 80 MHz, 512K of Flash program memory, and 32K of SRAM data memory.
The uC32 is easy to use and suitable for both beginners and advanced users experimenting with electronics and embedded control systems. It provides 42 I/O pins that support a number of peripheral functions, such as UART, SPI, I2C ports, and pulse-width modulated outputs. Twelve of the I/O pins can be used as analog inputs or as digital inputs and outputs.

Just a quick shot so I don't forget how to use my camera.
This little dingbat connects to a breadboarded microcontroller through its nifty colorful wires. The pins are for connecting a cable from the AVR Dragon programmer/debugger. I designed the color code and built this my own self!
To the unaided eye, this little artifact looks fairly tidy. Under the x-treme closeup, grungy. That's what cameras do when they can't meaningfully add 10 pounds!
Updated: Now with scale penny!
About the acronyms: AVR is a line of chips made by Atmel. They're all coy about what AVR stands for, claiming it isn't an acronym and even that it doesn't mean anything at all. MCU is MicroController Unit and ISP is In-System Programming (I've also seen it meaning In-circuit Serial Programming). Just so's you know.

I built a robot from a Tamiya gearbox and tractor chassis, with an Arduino microcontroller and an h-bridge to control the motors. There's a PING ultrasonic distance sensor on the top.
The software is simple -- turn until you find some open space and then go forward until you get within 6 inches of an object. Lather, rinse, repeat. The robot finds its way all over the house with this simple code.
The cat is obsessed with it and will follow it for hours. Sometimes it will get stuck in a corner for a long time and the cat just sits there and watches.
I'll put up a build log at www.atomsandelectrons.com

built from a portion of Mr. Ray Wilson's schematic
opamps are go!
pots are too, and i guess wires as well - caps, resistors, yadda yadda
this add-on may be a bit overkill:
- 5 CV outs, 4 with portamento
- gain and offset controls
- offset seems weird, might have to do with my r2r values
- requires +&-, dual power supply, which isn't very convenient

Each row blinks on and off. This is a picture taken in the dark. I lined the face up in the lower right in the camera's LCD screen, and when it went dark, signaling the picture being taken, I slid the face up and to the left. The red lights appear as dots, proving that they're not on continuously as they appear to be. Actually, there is a slight shimmer to them, especially if you look around at different parts of the face - when your eye jumps, you can see the shimmer in your mental afterimage. I did throw in a pretty lengthy pause via TIMER0 between rows, though, so this can be reduced, and what's more, I'm only using a 4MHz oscillator, which runs a bit slower than that in tests. When I switch to the 20MHz crystal, and crank up the voltage a bit, it should appear rock solid, even across the proposed 32x32, bicolor panel I'm hoping to build with this.
Energizer paid me $0.50 for that bit of subliminal advertising.
I designed and built a passive infrared trigger for my Canon EOS 5D camera (will work with any camera with a remote shutter release socket) to take pictures when something (an animal) sets off the PIR sensor. This will allow me to set the camera up to automatically capture anythng that moves in front of the sensor. I used a microcontroller to control the camera wake up and shutter release relays. This gives me the ability to control the frequency and number of shots. For the prototype I trigger the wake up relay for 300ms then the shutter release relay for 300ms followed by a 300ms pause before checking the input again to see if there is still movement in front of the PIR sensor. I also put a long delay (1 second) after 5 continuous shots. Depending on results I may replace this long delay with a wait until the PIR is no longer being triggered to prevent too many pictures of one event if the animal stays in range of the PIR sensor for a while. The cool thing is that the camera can go into sleep mode allowing the battery to last for days as the circuit wakes the camera up when movement is detected.
