The chipKIT™ Cmod is a chipKIT/MPIDE compatible board from Digilent. It combines a Microchip® PIC32MX150F128D microcontroller with a convenient 600-mil, 40-pin DIP package and two Digilent Pmod connectors. Digilent's Cmod boards are ideally suited for breadboards or other prototype circuit designs where the use of small surface mount packages is impractical.
The chipKIT Cmod takes advantage of the powerful PIC32MX150F128D microcontroller. This microcontroller features a 32-bit MIPS processor core running at 40 MHz, 128K of flash memory, and 32K of SRAM data memory.

RetroZone has updated this old NES paddle with the 28-pin PIC16C745 microcontroller. The 16C745 has built-in USB, though it's a tad bulky. I'm hoping they make a lesser-pinned model [datasheet].

Tomorrow I will be giving a presentation at the new hacker space in Albuquerque called Quelab. I will be explaining how we have automated our meals using our open source temperature controller (YATC). There will be plenty of kits that we will solder up together after the talk.
The following configurations will be discussed:
- crock pot –> sous vide
- hot plate –> temperature controlled cooker
- fermentation chamber (bread, yogurt, tempeh)
- inexpensive cheese/wine fridge
- high efficiency chest freezer to fridge conversion
Sanguino is an open source Arduino-compatible microcontroller board that is based on the Arduino, and inspired by the Boarduino form-factor. It uses the atmega644P chip which has 4x the memory, ram and 12 more GPIO pins than the Arduino's atmega168.

Microchip's ENC28J60 is a 28-pin, 10BASE-T stand alone Ethernet Controller with on board MAC & PHY, 8 Kbytes of Buffer RAM and an SPI serial interface. With a small foot print package size the ENC28J60 minimizes complexity, board space and cost. I had a visit from a BBC Technology News film crew the other day. We built a small microcontroller kit, and then filmed a demo of the Compukit UK101, Newbrain, Jupiter Ace and Microwriter. With a bit of luck, they may even be able to find the Tomorrow's World clip featuring the Microwriter!

Seeeduino Mega is a microntrolller board based on ATmega1280, derived from the Arduino Mega with changes in pursuit for small form factor, flexibility and functionality
I probably won't use it for my first quadrocopter build, as I intend to use the Easy IMU Pilot firmware, which uses the ArduIMU CPU to control everything.
