The Rambunctious are well known or little known group in the city; depending on your interest. I do not see them much, because they are nocturnal creatures and their shows seldom start before 10 pm and usually later. The leader and main vocalist is Michael Johnson on trumpet and the group consist sometimes of 5 musicians, sometimes 10 or 12. The purpose of their music is fun and they deliver on the promise.

Michael Johnson-Cornet, Ian Tulloch- sousaphone, Nathan Dell-Vandenberg - trombone. Patrick Smith - Tenor Sax, Benjamin Hackman - drums.

This is a Text portrait I made with Usain Bolt's FULL biography! The whole work is actually a black and white digital painting with a huge text in the background. The original size of my Bolt's text portrait is huge (9000 pixels wide, 300dpi).

Usain Bolt is a Jamaican sprinter and a three-time Olympic gold medalist. He holds the world record for the 100 metres, the 200 metres and, along with his teammates, the 4x100 metres relay. He also holds the Olympic record for all three of these races. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, Bolt became the first man to win three sprinting events at a single Olympics since Carl Lewis in 1984, and the first man to set world records in all three at a single Olympics. In 2009 he became the first man to hold the 100 and 200 m world and Olympic titles at the same time.

'Memory and Reflection' is a 12ft high artwork by sculptor Michael Johnson in the shape of a mussel shell.

The stainless steel sculpture depicts aspects of Musselburgh's history with images of agriculture, people, connections to the sea, the river and the Romans. The inner face of the sculpture is mirror polished and reflects whatever stands before it: yourself, the sky and sea.

Mr Johnson, from Nottinghamshire, sees these two aspects of the shell -- the memory of place and the reflection -- as strong metaphors for a work which interprets the history of the town and offers a reflection of how the town is viewed now.

I saw this beautiful puppy at the farmers' market, and decided to paint it in the style of the British illustrator, Michael Johnson. He was popular in 60s and 70s, which I learned from Mr. Peng's blog, Today's Inspiration. Johnson's works often includes white backgrounds, distinctive outlines, and circular shapes as you can see in the example below.

Life without you is gonna be Bluer than Blue.

Thanks for your great music over all of the years!

Sorry, the first few frames are blurry, but the rest of the video is in focus and contains the whole song. Anyone my age will remember it.

Michael was an amazing guitarist, although he didn't show off. He played with another Minnesotan in the Chad Mitchell Trio, Henry Deutchendorfer (aka John Denver). This video was taken in a friend's living room a year or two ago.

“The struggle of literature is in fact a struggle to escape from the confines of language;

it stretches out from the utmost limits of what can be said; what stirs literature is the call and attraction of what is not in the dictionary.” ~ Italo Calvino ~

. . . that being said . . .

When I shoot, I'm never sure what's calling me at the moment. Sometimes my images sit in folders for days, weeks, or months. However, when they beckon, it's usually for a reason, one which helps me process a situation at hand.

"Challenges make you discover things about yourself that you never really knew. They're what make the instrument stretch - what make you go beyond the norm.” ~ anon ~

So today I guess this is all about stretching.

“Life is often compared to a marathon, but I think it is more like being a sprinter; long stretches of hard work punctuated by brief moments in which we are given the opportunity to perform at our best.” ~ Michael Johnson ~

“Be free all worthy spirits, and stretch yourselves, for greatness and for height.”

~ George Chapman ~

“If you put yourself in a position where you have to stretch outside your comfort zone, then you are forced to expand your consciousness.” ~ Les Brown ~

We spent a few days in southern Wales in August 1987 with an Irish friend who was working there. We did some walking in the Brecon Beacons as well as along the southern Pembrokeshire coast.

I looked up recent photos of this castle and there were only sheep in the fields. Cattle back in the 1980s.

About the clitoris, and it's distracting quality. If you want an explanation, read the text.

Spreads in process for Michael Johnson's chapter of work|spaces, my spring semester grad project in progress.
