MIchael Howells was the son of the composer Herbert Howells. He died in 1935 aged 9 and was buried in the churchyard of St Matthew's, Twigworth, where his parents married. The ashes of his mother, Dorothy, are interred on the left hand side, and a plaque to Herbert Howells is on the right hand side. (His ashes are interned in Westminster Abbey.)
