I wonder, was the intent here just to get the viewer pondering? Or perhaps shaking his or her head and muttering, “I give up.” The best I could come up with was, “Let’s see, an unsharpened pencil is dull, therefore you can’t write or draw neatly with it. But writing or drawing? How does that relate to a life without God?” So, I did give up.

Messaging and indoctrination in the program is that one had to "graduate" in order to be successful and earn their freedom. If one doesn't graduate, they're not considered to be successful and would fail in life. This framed message is a reminder of that.
