. . . I gave up on trying to see the Northern Lights in Muskegon tonight, but not before sending a message to the aliens up there! They responded with a quick meteor (on the right).

Have a great week Facebook and Flickr friends!

Candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. It was her hair merging into the 'fur' on her coat that caught my eye. The mobile device is the bane of street photography but sometimes we just have to embrace the fact that we are documenting life in our times and, frankly, the smartphone is out time just now. Enjoy!

"... We are ok. We can’t go out everyday so we cook many different food at home. I think maybe we‘ll be fat when the promble finish..."

This is what my charming stepdaughter Xixi wrote in an e-mail to me (we communicate in English, because her English is much better than my lousy Chinese). She also attached pictures of the tasty meals they indulge in.

Xixi gave birth to a second child in December. So my wife went to Kunming in order to assist her. She wanted to come back to Vienna on February 3, but due to the coronavirus outbreak the flight has been delayed to March 26 at the moment...

I took this picture in my parents' house during our trip to my home in 2015.

“When the field line guiding a bright auroral patch leads to a point directly above the observer, the aurora may appear as a "corona" of diverging rays, an effect of perspective.”

I felt really small with the aurora borealis straight above me, coming down towards me...!

This padlock on the bridge took me back many years, to when I had a citizens' band radio in my vehicle. I wonder how meaningful the "10-4" message is to the person who clicked the lock into place. Is it a "goodbye" to someone lost? Or, just a phrase that amuses the person who bought it?

Simple messages are the most effective.

Message gets roundly ignored by nearly all, maybe only intended for Binmen with low esteem issues.

Candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. A 'Fun for Friday' shot at long last. A capture that I am sure she would not be happy about and I would normally avoid posting a 'derpy' face out of respect but I love the stories that this image conjures up in the mind. Wishing you all a great weekend ahead!

Candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. I loved the possible stories that could be read into this shot, with the posture and expression of this mobile phone user - oh and the light was just to beautiful to ignore as well.

Found on a traffic signal pole.

Walking to and from our lunch restaurant is fairly unusual but a very pleasant change. We walk along new routes and are often surprised by what we encounter, totally unseen when driving.

This is the front gate of an unusually scruffy street but it caused me to stop, stare and think for a moment or two.
