One of the 9 Similan Islands of Thailand situated in the Andaman Sea
which is to the west of Thailand. Traveling about 150 nautical miles further to the north one arrives in the
waters of Myanmar. In this particualar year (1996) the tyrannical military regime ruling Myanmar would not allow us entry into their fantastic waters. It remained closed to any recreational use until about 1998 when I first dove Myanmar. Some of our dives were on islands which had never before been dived and are a part
of what is known as the Mergui Archipelago.
