Happy Bench Monday!!

HBM!!

Built in 1941, the building already comes with plenty of charm and character.

“It was originally a drug store and housed a soda fountain. Over the years, it has housed many businesses, including a general store, sewing shop and most recently, Bassett machine shop. The building is owned by Joy Purcell, a long time resident of Dripping Springs,” Oehler explained.

Since the building is in a historical district, Oehler and her sister have been working with city officials to preserve the building’s history.

“This 2000 square foot building, which is located in the Mercer Street Historical District, is undergoing a major renovation. The building has never had HVAC so that is being installed. All new electrical is being down due to the old outdated wiring. In addition, we are replacing doors, painting, updating bathroom, landscaping and much more. We are working with the Dripping Springs Historical Preservation Commission to keep the structure of the building as original as possible.

Trying out a vintage 28mm f3.5 wide angle lens that a friend of mine loaned me. It turned out to be far better than I expected.

While waiting for your tour of the cavern, you can buy a bag of sand that has gems inside of it. You take the bag to the mini flume and use a screen to find your gem stones. There were some kids that tried it out and looked like a lot of fun. Of course , you won't find your fortune here, but you will have a great experience walking down into the cavern.

Family fun on Mercer Lake

While fishing beautiful Mercer Lake one evening, I happened to look up and see a majestic eagle staring at me. Luckily, I had my camera with me and captured this shot.

Mercer turns around to see a Viper from his old unit activate a stun baton and charge. Luckily, the ex-Cobra has a weapon of his own.

JoeDios is sometimes still active, and one of the members put up a February crossover challenge contest. I wanted to make an extended baton but haven't had the time. And I'm not usually big on crossovers (why would a GIJoe have a lightsaber?!), but this one just came together. #TR8R
