Merapi Lava Tour. Sand mining seems to be the principal activity around the Sabo dams where the cold lava flow carrying sand, boulders and debris are contained by the barriers during heavy torrential rain. This is a hazardous activity. Any sudden downpour of heavy rainfall will cause subsequent cold lava flow and they could be easily trapped.
After a harrowing night fleeing the new eruptions of the volcano, many exhausted people simply lie down and sleep amongst the chaos.
