Stress can be defined as a state of worry or mental tension caused by a difficult situation. Stress is a natural human response that prompts us to address challenges and threats in our lives.
Many of us are familiar with some form of the throbbing, uncomfortable, and distracting pain of a headache. There are different types of headaches. The common types of headaches include
Burnout is a state of complete mental, physical, and emotional exhaustion. If you are experiencing burnout, you may notice it is difficult to engage in activities you normally find meaningful. You may no longer care about the things that are important to you or experience an increasing sense of hopelessness.
Mental health is the overall wellness of how you think, regulate your feelings and behave. Sometimes people experience a significant disturbance in this mental functioning. A mental disorder may be present when patterns or changes in thinking, feeling or behaving cause distress or disrupt a person's ability to function.
Nervousness is a feeling of fear, worry, or apprehension. Feeling nervous on occasion is normal and even beneficial. While nervousness is usually temporary and specific to a situation, it can also be a symptom of an anxiety disorder. With anxiety disorders, the nervousness is excessive or persistent, and can affect a person's ability to function in daily life.
Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder in which people interpret reality abnormally. Schizophrenia may result in some combination of hallucinations, delusions, and extremely disordered thinking and behaviour that impairs daily functioning, and can be disabling.
Mental illness is the medical term for mental health. The concept of mental health refers to an individual's behavioural and emotional health. When one's mental health suffers, it can lead to drastic changes in mood, thinking, and behaviour. Mental illness is usually caused by genes, traumatic experiences, abuse, or a family history of mental illness.
