A new take on an old idea. Since I am participating in Movember, this was an ideal time to redo this. Dr Evil has no moustache, therefore this is the only time I can pull it off. I hope you like the results.
November is Men's Cancer Awareness Month, millions of men around the world will show their support by growing a moustache during the month of November. I will be documenting my journey all month long. Support your local Cancer Society, we can beat it.

A shot from the first of this year's 3 Survival of the Fittest Races. I shot all 3 for Men's Health, same as last year, and had a fantastic time. It's a 10K obstacle course through the city centre, and here in Cardiff, a run up and down the stands of the millenium stadium, as well as this fantastic inflatable obstacle - it's like a bouncy castle for Grown Ups!
I try and light as many of the shots as possible, to give them more polish, although it does entail carting quite a lot of gear around the course. I've written a bit about that experience here if you're interested.
It's lit with an SB900 on camera, with a wide angle diffuser on, acting as a master to a pair of SB800's on a nano stand to camera left, on the opposite side of the inflatable triggered via CLS. This is almost the only time I use CLS, as I find I'm close enough to everything for it to work, and it definitely saves time when I've got to get round several locations in a couple of hours. The SB900 was set for something like 1/4 power, and the pair of SB800's more like 1/2, as I was blasting away fairly quickly and needed pretty prompt recycling.

Health Minister Edwin Poots with boxer Brian Magee promoting mens health at Belfast City Hall
===================
The greatest risk to men’s health is their reluctance to seek help at times of difficulty.
This hard-hitting statement was made by Health Minister Edwin Poots as he opened a men’s health event in Belfast City Hall aimed to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys.
The event is part of the efforts to highlight Men’s Health Week.
The Minister said: “The improvement of men’s health-related behaviours is a vitally important challenge for our society.
“All too often, there is a reluctance to seek help at times of difficulty or to take part in health improvement programmes that are arranged by GPs and other healthcare professionals.
“It is vital that this is addressed, as many illnesses and conditions such as bowel, prostate and testicular cancer can be treated successfully if diagnosed at an early stage.”
The Minister also went on to emphasise the importance of having a healthy lifestyle in helping to maintain good health. He said: “Behaviours such as smoking, drinking to excess, having unhealthy eating habits and a lack of physical activity are hugely influential in causing disease.
“Too many men rely on other people in their lives to make health care arrangements for them.
“Men have to take more responsibility for their own health. They need to decide to make healthier choices and we need to provide the means to support them in their efforts.”
The men’s health event at City Hall has been organised by the Belfast Trust and various community and voluntary organisations. It provides an opportunity for men of all ages to drop in and avail of various health checks, including cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure and health MOT checks.

The aim of the book is to provide a comprehensive General Practice text book which takes a contemporary, integrative approach to diagnosis, investigation and management of health issues and disease states encountered in the general practice environment. The book covers the philosophy underpinning general practice in the 21st Century, and deals with primary and secondary prevention as well as acute and chronic disease management.
General Practice: The Integrative Approach informs doctors as fully as possible about potential treatment and prevention options, as well as potential pitfalls according to the growing evidence base in this area. The book is directed at best practice rather than alternative practice. The first section of the textbook lays the foundations and principles of Integrative Medicine and the second section examines important medical conditions in a systems based approach.
Each chapter begins by detailing the medical and consulting knowledge required of a standard GP text, discussing physiology and pharmacological management plans of systems-based conditions. The chapter then leads into an evidence-based discussion of the therapeutic options available for the treatment of associated factors, essentially providing practitioners with the knowledge required to adapt their approach to meet the needs of the individual patient.
A national panel of experts with experience in Chinese medicine, herbal medicine, nutritional medicine, naturopathy, and exercise therapy have contributed to their various fields of expertise to incorporate management plans that utilise a variety of therapeutic modalities to achieve the best clinical outcome.
Incorporates evidence-based and safe therapies including conventional medical care, lifestyle interventions, complementary therapies.
Approach is holistic in focus
Focuses on prevention and health promotion
Symptomatic layout matches the approach of contemporary medical curriculum
Each therapeutic modality and therapeutics contributor will be allocated an icon, throughout the book the icon will appear near the corresponding therapeutics text for easy modality reference
Unique chapter – Integrative Medicine and the Law – covering medico-legal issues.
Ready reference herb/drug interaction chart

November and December are the two months where men do strange things with their facial hair (loosely associated with good deeds). So in November you grow a mustache and donate money for treatment of men related deseases: www.ch.movember.com. I donated today but I still have issues with growing a mustache. So I thought I help myself with some drawing in Photoshop (amazing how well the Surface pen can emulate an actual pen).
However the mission stays the same. Donate today!

Been wanting to expand on my portfolio for a while with some model shoots.
This shoot was with Keri. He needed some shots done for his portfolio so this was beneficial for both our portfolios.
Shooting this was hard as the walls in the gym were painted black, rendering Nikon's CLS system almost useless, lol.
Happy how some of these turned out.

This photo really cracks me up. How I was able to be so serious with that thing on my face is beyond me.
I made the mustaches myself, It actually took quite awhile to color it in since I could only find my fine point Sharpie.
In all seriousness I was really excited to participate in this FGR since it is Movember (the month formally known as November) and I just happen to be a Mo Sista.
Basically it's about a bunch of dudes (Mo Bros) who grow out their mustaches for the entire month while raising money for men's health - specifically prostate cancer and male depression.
Then at the end of the month we have a big party for the guys to show off their Mo's (mustaches) as well as show off their Mo Sistas.
Rich participated last year and had a blast so we're doing it all over again this year.
If you are feeling generous - click here to donate on behalf of my husband...(Ha I said "husband")
If I can kiss a scratchy mustache for 30+ days, I'm sure it wouldn't hurt for you to donate a few bucks :)
