The makings of a split-rail fence

So this week I gave notice at my job of 19 years....and I will be starting a new job...It's amazing to think about all the people I have met over these long years ...there were so many....but one thing for sure is that I will miss the people who were always there for me-who offered me support on those days that I fet like I was having a break down-the ones who made me laugh when situations seemed to ridiculous to imagine and to those who have offered me their friendship all these years.

It makes me think of this fence and how it's been mended-how people come and go but hopefully you will meet someone who will fit in the place that's missing a support- how at the end of this fence...just right over the dune it steps down onto the beach and offers so much more to see....life has so many views doesnt it-so many options... and so many chances to start over-to move ahead and all along we hope we're taking the right direction.... growing into the person we are meant to be...when do you think we discover who that person is?

Passion and Patience does it.. Looking forward for the next great catch.

The old Quoile bridge showing the repairs that closed it recently. Hopefully the 'patch' will blend in over time.

This is an infrared image that I took last fall. It has been chosen to be in a juried photography exhibition in a gallery in Chicago. The opening is this Friday. I am quite excited.

This is a project commissioned by the Samaritans in Dublin to highlight how we all have flaws and cracks, but this doesn’t mean we’re broken.

Kintsugi is an ancient Japanese practice of repairing broken pottery with gold. As a metaphor for life, it shows us how to see the broken, painful parts of ourselves and others as an opportunity to add strength, beauty and character.

Kintsugi by Daragh Fleming

See, we believe that broken things can still be beautiful.

The cracks are how the light gets in.

And our light is golden.

You won't make it through life without scars, mistakes, broken bits and pieces.

You have to break the shell to get at what's beneath it.

So let's leave the light seep in through these crevices and crack on, paint our battles with ink from the sun, monuments to how far we've come.

We fill our cracks with gold around here.

The last day of the year. Always a moment to take a look back, and enjoy what it's right, and mend anything that isn't.

Happy New Year everyone.

I believe these men may have been working on the Glevering Estate although that hasn't been confirmed.

My uncle Albert Wade is holding the broom!

I didn't get a chance to take a new fence photo this week, so I decided to upload one I took a few weeks ago while in my hometown visiting my family. There are currently 11 confirmed dead in my little town and they are still searching for many more that are missing.

I have to go out of town on a business trip this week and feel guilty that I cannot stay and help more. But my prayers are with them so I hope that will help a little.
