Some blue sky, but mainly orange-brown clouds turning black as an approaching storm gathered force at dusk.

When they run the clouds and the sea is dark.

Around the wharf on the island of Naoshima in Japan, floating underwater but above the algae in a pastel scene was this menacing beauty. How else to describe a jellyfish, whose stings could be fatal.

this beautiful black swan is a menace to swan society so I've named him Denis.

Shadows can be a curse., you're carefully crafted shot not quite what it could have been as that dark intruder ruthlessly cuts across the otherwise pin sharp image

It's happened to us all!

But (as Hollywood billboard creators discovered a long time ago) shadows can also be an extremely useful photographic 'device'., adding elements of foreboding., intrigue and menace to an image

This Barn owl had ducked into a dark hollow on a bright sunny day., and as he emerged the light/dark contrast was at it's maximum., and the resulting shadow (I thought has least) suddenly created an image of menace you wouldn't normally associate with this beautiful creature

An oddly shaped overhang in a canyon appears to be a threat to an innocent hiker.

A couple of evenings ago, in our "wild" garden and in some beautiful soft early evening light, I was taking some pictures of these purple flowers. Well, I call them flowers but the lady who helps with the garden calls them weeds. Never mind, they are flowers to me. Anyway, as I was shooting I suddenly picked up on this little caterpillar which I hadn't noticed before. Ah, I thought, something to focus my camera on to add a little interest. A few shots later I glanced over to my right and saw another caterpillar. And then another, and then another... well, you get the idea. As is often the case with insects and creepy crawleys, where you see one, look hard enough and you will see many more. I did a bit of quick research and my best guess is that these are the caterpillars of the Toadflax Brocade moth. Will they ingest my entire "wild" garden? I hope not!

e-scooters, Taxi (cut from T)

These rental e-scooters are really an eye-sore - they were everywhere during our Sotavento stay and they didn’t seem to be used much. And whén they were used they proved to be a menace to the pedestrians on the sidewalk.

Shot while returning from a late-night dinner at D Alfonso 1.

This is number 27 of the Faro & Olhão album.

A fast moving storm first brought these menacing monster clouds followed by a short torrential rain.
