In memory of my best friend, David Fletcher www.flickr.com/photos/crocrocphotos/ . I'm sure the view from heaven is much better than anything we could ever imagine hear on earth. For those who might not know. Crocrocphoto passed away this past Sunday Aug 9, 2015. He had been battling CLL (Chronic lymphocytic leukemia) for a while now. He love photography, admiring others and sharing his photo's here on flickr. He will be greatly missed...

it's been a while since we've had big blue skies. Today's forecast is for heavy rain possibly turning to sleet later . . .and my central heating system is making whining noises like it's about to break down . . .
Backup update: I bought a second external drive - 3 terabytes - just for my Pictures folder, which apart from all my photos, also holds the Lightroom catalogues, an absolutely essential part of the LR system.. So I will use the first external drive just for Time Machine backups of my MacBook Pro.
I've been keeping a diary for as long as I can remember.
When I was little, the little joys and worries were written into it and when I was big the joys and worries got bigger too.
But the book always had an ear for me and that was often comforting.
I sometimes look into old diaries and remember many things and people in my life, that I had already forgotten.

Memories of times gone by, when children laughed and ran in the schoolyard, where life existed ....
On the wings of a White-winged Dove! Actually the lyrics of the old Ferlin Husky song referred to a Snow White Dove. This nest building dove brought back memories of that great music.
The link between food and memories is quite powerful. My maternal grandmother was my role model for her views of life and her ability to make all people feel welcome in her home. If more people showed up for dinner, she'd smile and welcome them with open arms. One of my culinary loves were the persimmon cookies that she'd bake on cool days in the fall. I can almost taste that pungent sweetness as I write these words. Thank you, Grandma, for a lifetime of love and memories.
