Taken at the Zorn Brewery Meetup in Michigan City, IN,

There's really not much of the brewery left. The buildings were converted to office spaces maybe in the 70's or 80's. There was an architecture firm that occupied one building and most of the stuff were left behind.

The Edgewater meetup went to Madison Park because of rain but it was super fun and everyone's dolls were really awesome and everyone was so nice and great!

I'm glad I got to do one last meetup with you all before I head off to grad school in New York. Thanks for a great time!

We had a blast at the first meetup for Tam Makers, our new makerspace in Mill Valley. We hosted this free event at the wood shop at Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley on June 8, 2016.

A diverse group of people came to the visit the shop, learn about our classes and discuss how to grow our maker community. Participants ranged from experienced artists, technologists, makers and woodworkers, to people interested in learning new skills, as well as high school and middle school students and their parents.

We opened the shop at 6pm and folks started to connect right away, checking out some of our demos, showing off recent projects and touring the space. At 7pm, we gave a presentation on Tam Makers, and talked about our first courses, meetups and tools for adults and youth. We then discussed these programs as a group and received some really helpful feedback.

Most people were very interested in participating in Tam Makers and using the makerspace regularly. They also liked the mix of classes, ranging from maker art to technology and woodworking. Some people signed up for classes on the spot and most wanted to join more meetups. Many offered to volunteer as well. One person said this event had a great community feeling, unlike more commercially motivated makerspaces.

We’re really happy that this first meetup went so well and that so many folks want to participate actively. We look forward to collaborating with our new maker friends very soon!

Dozens of community members came to our Green Homes Meetup to learn how to make their homes greener, safer and more efficient. During this free event hosted by GreenChange.net, we discussed how to upgrade our homes, save money and fight climate change.

Featured speakers included:

• Todd Lando, FIRESafe MARIN

• Pierre Delforge, Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC)

• Peter Waring, Healthier Dwelling

• John Sutter, Applied Building Science

• Kellen Dammann, County of Marin Sustainability Team

• Jane Melia, Harvest Thermal

They talked about preparing for wildfire, electrifying and weatherizing our homes, getting energy-efficient appliances, switching to LEDs, as well as applying for rebates, financing and tax credits. These informative talks were followed by a lively group discussion.

This community meetup took place in our partner Good Earth’s new classroom in Mill Valley on October 16th, 2019 at 6pm. It was led by Fabrice Florin and Tom Flynn, with Lily Cohen, Al Grumet, Kelly Horner, Rob Mayfield and Marilyn Price. We’re grateful to all our gracious contributors. :)

Green Change hosted a Clean Transportation Meetup at Good Earth in Mill Valley on July 23, 2019, to discuss how we can fight climate change by using different modes of transportation: ride clean vehicles, use public transit, drive less and walk or bike more.

This free community meetup was moderated by Fabrice Florin and featured short talks by these guest speakers:

• Stephanie Moulton-Peters - Transportation Authority of Marin (TAM)

• Carleen Cullen - Drive Clean Marin

• Karen Wiener - The New Wheel

• Wendi Kallins - Sustainable Marin

• Patrick Seidler - Wilderness Trail Bikes

We presented these climate actions that people can take to use clean transportation:

• Get an Electric Car

• Get an Electric Bike

• Take Public Transit

• Drive Smart

• Ride a Bike

• Walk More

After the talks, we discussed our personal experiences about using clean transportation in our own lives, connecting experts with people who are just getting started.

This free community event was sponsored by Good Earth Natural Foods and took place in the new community room at their Mill Valley store. GreenChange.net will host more climate action meetups in this room in fall 2019.
