The IP dispatcher has southbound Q509 lined into the Northwest Connection and onto the Garrett Sub at West Deshler as CSXT 8739 lights up the soon-to-be-replaced CPL at North Deshler on a peaceful early autumn evening. The CPL's here will be an isolated replacement as part of a grade crossing upgrade.

Heading out of Connellsville on CSX trackage, the SWP1 SD40-2s will diverge onto the Southwest Pennsylvania Railroad trackage in Broadford on the way to tiedown in Scottdale, Pa.
With its middle head showing green, one of the rare triple-headed searchlights at the control point of Siler beckons local L351 back towards the yard in Corbin, Kentucky at dusk.

Early morning sun paints the sky as a CSX southbound is lined at NS Tower in Lima. The train will cross over to the main at Eureka Street, the next interlocking south.
Scanned lith print.
Hasselblad 501CM w/ Zeiss 350 mm/f5,6.
Fomapan 100 in Adox Adonal (=Rodinal) 1+100, semistand 1 h.
Lith printed on Foma Retrobrom with its characteristic greenish shades when left untoned. Moersch Easy Lith (17A+25B +H2Oqs600).
Untoned.
First time I've really used this tele. It's more "handable" than the 500 mm, but still was shot from a tripod.
This dendrite on the playa is nearly 1/2 mile long including its "roots" in the shallow lake. It is the second longest dendrite, after the "big tree" that is 1.5 miles in length.
I was surprised to see the colors in this one, light channels on a dark background. That is nearly the reverse of the big tree near it that has dark channels on a white background. Portions of the Big Tree can be seen on the upper right.
Maybe I should give these trees species names. What type of living tree does this one look like?
