Visit to the Tower of London the 2nd of July 2021. I had to book a ticket on line so booked the first slot at 9am. It was very slow there due to Covid-19 but great to visit without the crowds that would be there from all over the world in normal times. The Tower of London dates back to 1066 with the White Tower being built in 1078. The castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Chichester Cathedral, formally known as the Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity, is the seat of the Anglican Bishop of Chichester. It is located in Chichester, in West Sussex, United Kingdom. It was founded as a cathedral in 1075. I visited again on the 28th of July 2021. Had a nice walk around inside the cathedral and and around the outside too where the changing clouds made an interest back drop
Bryggen is a historic harbour district in Bergen, one of North Europe’s oldest port cities on the west coast of Norway which was established as a centre for trade by the 12th century.
In 1350 the Hanseatic League established a “Hanseatic Office” in Bergen. They gradually acquired ownership of Bryggen and controlled the trade in stockfish from Northern Norway through privileges granted by the Crown. The Hanseatic League established a total of four overseas Hanseatic Offices, Bryggen being the only one preserved today.
Southwark Cathedral in south London dates back to 1106AD but has been a holy site for many years longer. I took these photos with my Canon camera. The cathedral is surrounded by other buildings and is difficult to get any long shots

Travelled up to Salisbury to revisit the wonderful cathedral. It has the tallest spire in the United Kingdom. I climbed to the top of the spire last time I visited back in 2014. The tower is not open at the moment due to Covid-19 rules on social distancing. Salisbury cathedral is one of our newer Norman cathedrals as it was not built until 1220AD. Sadly the weather today as you can see was cloudy and overcast.

"Casa Medivale" (Medieval House) in the city of Cividale, Italy. It is one of the few surviving original medieval buildings in the city.
The cobbled streets, quirky passageways and terracotta roofs of medieval Tallinn have earned a reputation as a pearl of Baltic Europe.

Every day monks would gather in the Chapter House sitting on benches around the wall. For about an hour they would listen to the Abbot reading a chapter from the Rule of St Benedict - hence the name Chapter House.
Rounded arches and vault ribs in the Chapter House make a good example of 12th C Norman architectural style. The antechamber behind is a later construction more Gothic in style with severe pointed ribs supporting the vault. The rectangular objects on the floor are stone coffins originally built into the chamber wall.
This doors opens to a private residence which, save for starring in the Harry Potter series as a part of Godric's Hollow, remains so. I took this in 1985 speeding through Lavenham on the way to Sudbury and sadly did not properly compose the shot. Had I known it would one day figure in the Potter series I might have taken more time. The house recently sold for £950,000. had it been nearer my office I would certainly have 'snapped it up' as the saying goes. In truth I would have difficulty putting together £950.
My favourite street in Stratford has to be this one, with its 14th century Guildhall and grammar school building as well as this wonderful row of timber-framed almshouses, which date from the early 15th century. They were originally constructed for the Guild of the Holy Cross, and today retain their original purpose as well as possessing a beautiful simplicity.
The Historic Centre (Old Town) of Tallinn is an exceptionally complete and well-preserved medieval northern European trading city on the coast of the Baltic Sea.
The city developed as a significant centre of the Hanseatic League during the major period of activity of this great trading organization in the 13th-16th centuries.
Genoa is one of those places, like Venice, where you can always count on getting lost. One of the thrills of getting lost in these ancient cities is you never know what you will stumble across. this small exquisitely beautiful medieval piazza is were we ended up one day.

The ceiling of the school is a masterpiece of Perpendicular Gothic architecture. It has an elaborate system of fan vaults with 455 bosses. Each boss indicates a religious symbol, or a coast of arms, or many other things.

Located in a picturesque area in the Hațeg Country, the "Saint Hierarch Nicholas" Church in Densuş is considered the oldest church in Romania. Trinity College, Cambridge, which was founded in 1546 by King Henry VIII, is the largest college in either Cambridge or Oxford. It was the result of the merger of two existing colleges – Michaelhouse (founded in 1324) and King’s Hall (founded in 1317) – and seven hostels. The Great Gate (pictured) is the main entrance to the college, leading to the Great Court. A statue of the college founder, Henry VIII, stands in a niche above the doorway. In his hand he holds a table leg instead of the original sword and myths abound as to how the switch was carried out and by whom. In 1704, the University’s first astronomical observatory was built on top of the gatehouse. Beneath the founder's statue are the coats of arms of Edward III, the founder of King's Hall, and those of his five sons who survived to maturity.
