Thank you www.flickr.com/photos/dorchesterdorset/ (Tranter Dewy) for researching and enlightening me.....this is the white marble tomb of Abraham Blackleech Gent who died in 1639 and his wife Gertrude. The tomb is situated at the east end of the north aisle in Gloucester Cathedral. According to an article in the British Library the two recumbent effigies are most likely by Samuel Baldwin, and are of good quality with carefully carved hands, faces and costumes.

At their feet is this inscription:-

To the happy Memorie of Abraham Blackleech Gent. Sonne of William Blackleech, Esq. a Man not only generally beloved in this Life, but deservedly endeared to Posterity, by rare Examples of seldom'd pattern'd Piety expressed in his Bounty, to Saint Paul's in London, to this Church, to the Highways about, and the Poor in this City ----- Who laying aside the vileness of Mortalitie, was admitted to the glory of eternity.

On top of the bastion of the medieval wall.

The 16th century fortress has long been a romantic ruin, which today has olive and fig trees. Climb the walls to perfectly see the city's towers.

Its imposing 'Rocca' (great views) is the high bulwark of the citadel.

Beautiful enchanting Toledo, España

St. Peter's church, Stourton

The Monastery-Cathedral of St John the Baptist at Hovhannavank, 45 minutes drive from Yerevan.

There was a wooden church here as early as the 4th Century, but the current building consists of a 5th Century basilica on the north (not visible in this shot), now used as a chapel for personal prayer, and a 13th Century cathedral.

Like many Armenian churches there is a gavit, a sort of super-narthex, which also dates from the 13th Century - this is to the right of the complex as seen from here with the lower cupola.

The cupola of the main church has been damaged twice times in earthquakes - in 1679 and 1919, rebuilt both times, and the building suffered further damage in the 1988 earthquake which is a central event in shaping contemporary Armenia.

It is in good condition now and there is an active conservation programme.

To the right is the volcanic Mount Ara (2,164 metres above sea level).

Beautiful medieval hemlet, and castle on rock plateau .

As one of the oldest cities in northern France, Soissons (remember the vase?) offers two magnificent medieval buildings: the cathedral Saint-Gervais-et-Saint-Protais, and the ruins of the former Augustinian abbey of Saint-Jean-des-Vignes. Of the monumental abbey church only the west front and the towers remain.

Rievaulx Abbey was a Cistercian abbey in Rievaulx, near Helmsley, in the North York Moors National Park, North Yorkshire, England. It was one of the great abbeys in England until it was seized in 1538 under Henry VIII during the Dissolution of the Monasteries. The wider site was awarded Scheduled Ancient Monument status in 1915 and the abbey was brought into the care of the then Ministry of Works in 1917. The striking ruins of its main buildings are today a tourist attraction, owned and maintained by English Heritage.

The pride not only of Šariš, but also of the whole of Slovakia is the ancient town of BARDEJOV, which is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful Slovak towns. It was included in the UNESCO World Natural and Cultural Heritage List in 2000. Bardejov has also a fitting nickname – “the most gothic town in Slovakia”.

The picturesque square with colorful burgher houses, the majestic Basilica Minor of St. Egidius, the Jewish suburb, the historic town hall, the Executioner's House, well-preserved city walls with bastions ... A huge number of valuable and remarkable monuments in a relatively small area. The city center is formed by the Town Hall Square surrounded on three sides by 46 burgher houses on narrow medieval plots. In the middle stands the Basilica Minor of St. Egidius, in front of which is located the original pair of bells Ján and Urban. The bells were originally placed in the bell tower of the Basilica’s tower. The old bells got damaged over time, so they were replaced by new castings. The Basilica of St. Egidius was built in the middle of the 14th century and contains a unique collection of 11 late Gothic winged altars. Feeling like climbing a flight of stairs? The tower of the basilica offers the most beautiful views of the city.

"The Kammerzell House (Alsatian: Kammerzellhüs, French: Maison Kammerzell, German: Kammerzellhaus) is one of the most famous buildings of Strasbourg and one of the most ornate and well preserved medieval civil housing buildings in late Gothic architecture in the areas formerly belonging to the Holy Roman Empire.

Built in 1427 but twice transformed in 1467 and 1589, the building as it is now historically belongs to the German Renaissance but is stylistically still attached to the Rhineland black and white timber-framed style of civil (as opposed to administrative, clerical or noble) architecture.

It is situated on the Place de la Cathédrale, north-west of the Strasbourg Cathedral, with whose rosy colour it contrasts in a picturesque way when seen from the opposite direction.

The building's inside has been decorated on all floors by lavish frescoes by Alsatian painter Léo Schnug (1878-1933). It now houses a restaurant." (Wiklipedia)
