These children are one of those displaced ones by the Saptakoshi Flood (18
Aug, 2008).
Koshi flood has already displaced 107,000 peoples in Nepal and millions in India - really massive natural disaster.
Last week I volunteered in a Medical Camp for the Saptakoshi flood victims at Koshi flood site. This photo was taken at Vantabari near Koshi Barrage.
I have also tried to compile some video footage here

Mothers' Children ...
On the wind we could hear their laughter
In the rain we could see their tears
Wrapped in a blanket, there was comfort
In our hearts we felt their hope.
The Osmanthus flowers held by the child from Japan are apparently beautifully perfumed.
" An apricot-scented blossom - soft, pliable, sensuous, from an exotic plant cherished in the East."

Saw her crying outside the medical camp in Balakot, tried to cheer her up but well that made her cry more. So I did what any sensible photographer would do, stepped back and took a picture.

Mali nomads wait in line for medical care from a Turtlewill mobile clinic. Mali has an extremely high infant mortality rate. Major health concerns include hepatitis A, typhoid, diarrheal diseases, malaria, and meningococcal meningitis. Average life expectancy for adults is less than 50 years.
In Mali, Direct Relief partners with TurtleWill, a nonprofit organization that provides a range of support services, including medical mobile clinics, for nomadic tribal populations.
TurtleWill is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting tribal populations in Niger, Ethiopia, and Mali preserve their indigenous traditions and maintain strong, healthy communities. In Mali, TurtleWill runs mobile clinics in Hombori, Gourma Rharous and Timbuktu. TurtleWill conducts multiple medical camps yearly to support improved access to basic primary health care services for nomadic Turaeg, Songhai, Fulani and Bela peoples. TurtleWill's activities also include improving access to clean water and sanitation through the construction of wells and latrines, supporting primary school education and adult literacy training, and establishing community cooperatives designed to teach nomadic communities new skills and income generating activities.
Since TurtleWill began conducting mobile health clinics many patients have been treated in remote areas of Niger, Mali, and Ethiopia. Malaria, upper respiratory infection, and parasitic infections are the most pressing health issues seen among the nomadic population.

Nomadic people in Mali awaiting medical care from a Turtlewill mobile medical clinic. Mali is a land-locked country in western Africa almost double the size of Texas. It is one of the poorest countries in the world. Two-thirds of its land area is desert or semi-desert, and some of its population is nomadic. In rural areas, only a small percentage of people have access to improved sanitation and to improved water sources.
Mali has an extremely high infant mortality rate. Major health concerns include hepatitis A, typhoid, diarrheal diseases, malaria, and meningococcal meningitis.
