Uploading some old works from college to add to my archive on Flickr.
This is the second page of my Media Studies thesis, which was a graphic novel exploring relationships and identity formed through various means of media. Hard to explain, and unfortunately I didn't get to finish it. Something that I'd like to change.
I'll upload the rest eventually but this is my favorite scene. A lot of inspiration came from my Mom for this character.
My second favorite page after the swimming scene.
Pages from my the unfinished mini-Graphic Novel I worked on for my Media Studies Thesis at Vassar College.
The pages may be a bit difficult to follow. There are three characters, each with four pages, but their stories are all incomplete because the work isn't finished.
Today I have been helping my daughter with her media studies homework by taking some pictures to use in a magazine she is creating for her homework.

I'm having trouble keeping up w/ all of the new media coverage of the financial crisis. All of the business experts, from economists to finance professionals are now jumping in to explain this mess, offer analysis and deconstruction and opinions. The newest one: the Atlantic blog on Business and Finance
Where there is money, there is money to be made.
The trend of this, media-wise, is also attributed to the lack of trust of other "mainstream media" sources. Most journalists trained professionally do not have backgrounds in business. Being able to report on this crisis has left a hole in the traditional corporate media -- hence the rise in these alternative new media niche outlets.
From media guru Jeff Jarvis, reporting on trust in media as he covers Davos: "Edelman found that trust in business magazines and analysts fell from 57% to 44% and from 56% to 47% respectively. Trust in TV news is down from 49% to 36% and in newspaper coverage from 47% to 34%. Stop on that: Two thirds of people don’t trust newspaper articles."
This is part of my study on Media and The Financial Crisis

Sharon Stone: Actor and Activis at the University of San Francisco.
A fashion model, a film star, a fine humanitarian, these qualities represent Sharon Stone at her best. Active in the fight against malaria in Africa and AIDS globally, she has also fought for Tibetan human rights as well as the rights of women in South and Southeast Asia. She is a board member of the San Francisco-based American Hiymalayan Foundation, and on a memorable Bay Area day led the Dalai Lama into the Greek Theater at Berkeley. She is also the proud mother of three sons.

Oh, it was just one of those shots back when I used a point'n'shoot and was trying to take a long exposure of the room using the computer as a tripod. Unfortunately back then I'd not yet learnt how f/stops and ISO played into it; I'd have a 1sec exposure with a 300 ISO rating and an aperture at f/2.8. Too bright. But this one turned out alright. No one moved enough though, so it doesn't look much like a long exposure.

As well as providing us with wisdom and knowledge pertaining to the academic world, university also equips us with practical real life skills. Like the art of getting extensions and how to nap in meetings without making too much noise. But it also teaches us how to survive on very little money. Whether you are funding your university experience from your own pockets or maybe your parents, I can assure you that you will at some point in your degree find yourself eating Mi Goreng noodles and and plenty of baked beans. Now even though I am back at work for a semester, I found that these skills carry wonderfully into the real world. The more noodles I eat, the more holidays I can save for (or in reality, the more debts I can pay off)! But it doesn’t end there, university thrifts can find themselves 3 course meals, each course costing less than 90 cents!
French Onion Soup from a sachet - 86c
Mi Goreng Noodles - 49c
Anchor Toffee Apple flavoured Jelly - 90c
“What more could you want?”, I though as I tucked into my bowl of jelly. Mmm hmm. So although my tummy sometimes craves the culinary largesse bestowed upon the rich, if I ever find myself trapped on an island with only jelly to live off, I know who will be surviving.....ME!

(Photo by Rob Mattson/Amherst College, Office of Public Affairs) From four different areas of study, 48 students attend the inaugural Select Dinner, part of the Select Dinner Series, which is sponsored by the President's Office and planned through the Office of Conferences and Special Events, at the Alumni House, on the Amherst College campus, in Amherst, Mass., Saturday evening, February 23, 2013. The series for Spring 2013 includes four formal dinners, each featuring an elegant menu including wines with each course and an after-dinner speaker. The events will be held at the Alumni House or the Lord Jeffery Inn. Conceived by a member of the Class of 2013, the gatherings are intended "to encourage students to engage outside of their comfort zones and standard social groups."
