Having absolutely no technical awareness at all, I am struggling mightily with this entirely new system as comfort levels have been totally destroyed...and I haven't even done anything but try to configure photos, editing, and Flickr into some kind of coherent pattern which will become my new habitual morning routine. In so doing, I'm getting beeps and buzzers galore attacking me from some unknown universe for no apparent reason; I have to retype everything numerous times due to the new mini-keyboard; and I always seem to end up entering some type of "no navigation" zone in which further progress is disallowed and I have to return to the start.
In any event, I'm sure understandings will be reached within the next millenium. In the meantime, gazing at photos like this and drinking a cup of tea helps to ease the pain. And I promise to quit whining henceforth...;-)

Autumn color has been about two weeks behind schedule on Michigan's Leelanau Peninsula this year. While the color is near peak now, we've recently been getting rain and fairly high winds. I am hoping the leaves will hold on until the colors peak. I'm also hoping to get some shots of Autumn 2015 that I like. In the meantime, here is one from the archives.
Sometimes, the very last rays of the sinking sun create a ghostly glimmer on Mt. Rainier in western Washington.
The last eruption of this magnificent 14,410-foot volcano (4392 m) occurred about 1000 years ago. In the meantime, 4 million new people have settled in the area. Nobody knows how the story continues, but wisdom says nothing is permanent.
Like the sea, the mountain cannot be tamed by man. I think that's why I love it. Occasionally, the clouds part and it comes into view high in the sky like a magical apparition, with a beauty you can never forget.

The last shot (for now at least) from my 2019 visit to Rome - I went there for work, but it really is nice that even given those circumstances Rome is a place you can enjoy when you're just out to get dinner or take an evening stroll.
This particular shot is the fourth in a series I have uploaded to Flickr over the last year and a half since that visit. It was a quite magical experience to see Villa Borghese and the Temple of Asclepius (which despite the name and this being Rome isn't actually a Roman temple, but one built 1785-1792) in the blue hour. Actually this part of the park was supposedly closed for the night when I went in, but the gate was open so...
I was supposed to go back to Italy and Rome last year, but that being 2020, it was of course not to be. And the prospect this year doesn't look stellar either (but that is not entirely the fault of Corona, but also technical stuff about where to store archaeological artifacts, when the storage facilities they used to be in have been deemed a health hazard with risk of collapse, and the powers that be need to find a new home for them - and you in the meantime can't get to them at all. But I do look forward to working with the stuff in a place where you aren't actually afraid of going through the floor! The glamour of being an archaeologist.)
Following a beautiful, sunny, blue sky day yesterday, a winter storm has arrived. Our forecast is predicting 7 to 12 inches of snow by 11PM tonight. There's already 3 inches of new snow on the ground; and, if it keeps falling as heavily as it is this morning, we may well see a foot by tomorrow. Yikes! In the meantime, happy weekend everyone!

Our local Rugby team dont win any games! No! They are actually all amateur photographers and normally only play for a few minutes before getting bored and then they just start wandering around the field taking photographs of the amazing view. Who could blame them! Of course in the meantime the opposing team just play on, unchallenged and score hundred of tries!
The manager has been tearing his hair out with frustration for ages so hes now installed floodlight and intends to hold all matches at night! Unfortunately hes never heard of infra red photography!

The history of 'Domain and castle d'Aertrycke' begins in 1865 when 'August de Maere', the spiritual father of the harbor of Zeebrugge acquired 98 hectares of the 'Lost Cost' domain.
In 1869 he built the centrally located neo-Gothic castle. In 1897, August de Maere, who had been raised to the nobility in the meantime, was granted permission to add d'Aertrycke to his name.
With the exception of a short period after the first world war, the domain remained owned by the family. 'Xavier de Maere', the last owner of the castle, became known as Deputy Commander of the Belgian South Pole expedition between 1958 and 1959. After the death of his mother, who last lived in the castle, he concluded an agreement with the West Flemish provincial government for the partial opening of the castle to the general public.
In 2012, the province acquired full ownership and Domain d'Aertrycke became a full-fledged public provincial domain. Today, the castle is a luxury hotel with restaurant and a convention center. The castle is located in a romantic garden with a large pond, meadows and forests. (source: Amazing Belgium)

Montemaris was once the name of the indoor wave pool and slide paradise in Adelberg. This photograph was taken when it was already a lost place. In the meantime, the outdoor slides have been torn down.
Todays two images will be my last uploads for a while as I become Mobile Lynn again and fly to another location in the hope of finding some new and colourful birds. Please stay safe in the meantime and thank you to all who comment and/or fave my photos, it is much appreciated.

2020 has been an especially strange, difficult year. 2021 is likely to start where 2020 left off. However, I believe there is reason to hope that it will end up being a better year. Time will tell. In the meantime, I am grateful for the technology that has allowed me to stay in touch with friends all over the world via Flickr. Your caring and support is deeply appreciated! Happy New Year, dear friends! Warm wishes for a happy, healthy, peaceful 2021. Please stay safe!

The Boxdorf Windmill is a former windmill built in 1849 in Boxdorf, a district of Moritzburg.
Until 1652, the Boxdorfer and the Reichenberger farmers had to grind their grain in the Plauenschen soil and in the (somewhat closer) Ockrilla Lease Mill. With the Saxon Constitution of 1831, the grinding force fell away.
The first mill at this site, a wooden pint mill, was built in 1839 by the miller Münch from Zuendorf on the Boxdorf Galgenberg (also: Gallberg). The grinding mill was able to grind eight to ten talents of flour daily. In 1847, the mill was sold to Müller Friedrich Wilhelm Seeländer from Weferlingen near Magdeburg. The mill burned down in a thunderstorm in 1849 in full operation.
Friedrich Wilhelm sold the remains to his brother Heinrich Christoph Seeländer and ran the Loschwitz watermill himself. Heinrich Christoph rebuilt the mill in 1849 as a stone, defensive-tower-like Dutch mill. This is testified by a sandstone with an engraved year above the original entrance door. Six years later Friedrich Wilhelm returned to Boxdorf in 1855 and took over the mill again from his brother. Around 1860 the house belonging to the mill was probably destroyed by arson. The existing residential building was then built.
In the German War of 1866, the Saxon Army, allied with Austria, gathered near Dresden and occupied the mill. The miller was no longer allowed to grind grain as a pressing.
Friedrich Wilhelm Seeländer died in 1877 as a result of a war suffering. Since his descendants had other professions or were too young, the mill came into foreign hands. Friedrich Hermann Müller bought the mill with three meals and a bakery for 11,100 marks. A lightning strike on 27 June 1887 did not result in a fire. Nevertheless, the roof, wings and wave were destroyed. Since in the meantime more efficient working machinery companies had taken over the business, a repair was no longer worthwhile. The mill came to a standstill.
The owner Müller was granted a concession for coffee and beer serving in 1890. Müller opened an economy and on the tower of the mill a wooden observation deck. This was replaced in 1904 by the still existing stone structure with pinnacles.
In 1921 Paul Gantze purchased the mill and had an electric grinding plant reached inside. He moved the banquet to the neighbouring apartment building. In 1927 he built a small hall. The property became a popular excursion restaurant that was in operation until the 1950s.

The data drive on my computer suffered a “fatal error” two days ago and would no longer talk to me. It is now at Best Buy getting a new data drive on which my cloud back-up will be loaded. Could take several days. In the meantime, I am trying to keep up with everyone via my iPhone.
As an alternate to birds of BC, here is an iPhone shot of the view from my balcony, looking down the bike path. The mighty Ottawa River is just on the other side of the trees, but is only visible in the winter.

A brother and sister Rufous Hummingbird chicks.
I had planned to continue uploading and catching up with your shots after I uploaded the previous owl shot, but a number of nature/photography 'miracles' happened, including this one.
A photographer friend of mine notified me as to the location of this nest site. (His name is Terry Venables and his blog is located here: www.NaturalImagesCanada.ca/blog He is nature photographer that specializes in hummingbirds).
A video/photographic amalgamation has been made of the first day I spent at the nest when the chicks were three days away from fledging, and can be view on my YouTube channel here: youtu.be/4jh8G1U1Ztk It showcases the juxtaposition of chicks at relative rest and the frenzy of activity that occurs seconds after feeding.
Needless to say, with the juggle of life being challenging enough, I utilized every spare hour to spend some quiet time with these two before they left. (I haven't even had the time to look at most of my images!).
This week, I also received my 2 part-time jobs back, it's my husbands birthday tomorrow, my daughter is graduating next week, and I begin to realize, that though I miss you, my friends on Flickr, I will most likely have to wait till the dust settles to catch up.
I look forward to it! In the meantime, please have patience with me, until then... :)

I'm sorry friends for the absence earlier this year. Our lives on planet Earth change constantly, and sometimes we find ourselves in a whirlwind of tasks, family problems and obligations that force us to postpone activities that give us pleasure.
I hope I can come back completely in two weeks.
I have to say that, unfortunately for me, the return to photographic activity is far from being realized. Meanwhile I will continue to publish the photos of the trip to Italy in July 2018.
Thank you for understanding and support.
I wish you a happy weekend everyone.
Until the end of the trip in Rome, many were the fields of sunflowers I saw, but unfortunately traveling by highways is impossible to stop and make the records properly.
Italy is not a country of great territorial extension compared to Brazil, for example. In the meantime there are thousands of communes, almost always with a castle on top of the hill, adorable nooks that attract attention and enchant us.
To stop in each of these communes is the constant desire, but then the trip of a month would have to turn into a journey of years :)))
Just got back from a road trip to San Francisco. It will take me a few days to catch up. In the meantime, here is another shot of the playful otters.
Silently, like thoughts that come and go, the snowflakes fall, each one a gem.

Best wishes to all, in the next few days I will probably have more time, due to the new Christmas lockdown .
In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this silent snowfall, which I hope will happen at Christmas, even if they have forecast rain.
Thanks for stopping by, as always, everything is highly appreciated.

For me the Happy Caturday theme "more memories" wouldn't be complete without a photo of my sweet Fynnie. It's still not easy for me to look at photos of him as after more than two years the loss still hurts. He was my soulmate and I still miss him every day but in the meantime I have learned to cling to the happy memories and be grateful for the time I had with him. He was a very sweet boy and always wanted to make me happy.
Happy Caturday !
** We have returned from a very enjoyable week in Sussex . It was a chance for Mary to catch up on the part of the country she grow up in and it is a beautiful part of England
I need to sort out the photographs I took on the trip. In the meantime this was an image from a walk we took in a local bluebell wood before we went away. It was a dull day but I think it made getting the exposure correct much easier
THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT TO MY STREAM.

This adventure of photographing these Kits has been so much fun...especially being able to sit in a comfy chair in my living room...priceless!!

I asked my shadow, let's see how I'm doing, to laugh. In the meantime the cry, with the voice of temple, breaks in the room watering the time. My shadow says, what to laugh is to see the cries, like my cry. And I have shut up in despair and I listen then... the earth cries...

If I had ever been here before on another time around the wheel (**), I would probably know just how to deal with all of you.

Like I've been here before.
And you know it makes me wonder?
What's going on under the ground?
Do you know? Don't you wonder?
What's going on down under you?
We have all been here before. We have all been here before.
(**) "around the wheel", It refers to the time of El Obeid, period in which it is believed that the "wheel" (rueda) was invented by humans, possibly in Mesopotamia, in the 5th millennium BC.

Le he preguntado a mi sombra, a ver cómo ando, para reírme.
Mientras el llanto, con voz de templo rompe en la sala regando el tiempo. Mi sombra dice, que reírse és ver los llantos como mi llanto. Y me he callado, desesperado.
The earth cries.

Have a wonderful Sunday!
Okay, so... today I'm in a state of high anxiety. Why? Because. GULP. Yesterday I sent (for the first time ever) a batch of my stories to a learned person, requesting his honest feedback.
Said learned person was my English instructor in college in the 80s. I haven't seen him since that fateful day when I sold my books, vacated my apartment and tossed away plans to pursue a degree in favour of working in radio.
He was the last person to formally teach me anything in any way related to writing. He also encouraged me greatly, way back when. He thought I had potential.
So imagine how scary it is for me to show him my work... more than two decades later. I haven't had any additional schooling or instruction or even advice in the intervening years... and I've never allowed anyone to read my personal writing... except here on Flickr. That's what gave me the courage to send a few stories to my old prof. And now I'm all anxiety.
Meantime, I have hack work to do, so I'll try to forget about personal writing for now.
I just wanted to thank my Flickr friends for giving me the confidence to take one more step forward with my (always anxiety producing) scribbling.

Whitethroat (Sylvia communis). Hi everyone, sorry if I haven't been able to comment on your photos as much as normal in the last week or so. I will be away for a couple of weeks soon and we also have to sort out a major issue with our home which may take some time to resolve. I hope to be back in July and in the meantime enjoy all the better weather has to offer!

Patrice
---------------------
Light
The primordial lighting at the origin of the world left us with deep connections with the light. In fact, the light is inseparable from life, as it is as it is in our representation of the world, in our encounter with the reality.
The painter and the photographer know intuitively that is the mastery of the light that allows them to represent the sensorial dimension of the physical matter, the objects, and nature. Claude Monet, the famous impressionist painter said in this regard that any shoreline does not exist in itself because its appearance changes constantly with the light and the environmental conditions (and I would add, with the sensibility of the artist who represents it in painting or photography).
So here is Light. . . Don't look for this landscape in a geographical atlas. . . In the meantime, there are convincing traces of its existence in the Magdalene Islands, Quebec (Canada). . .

We haven't seen the sun here in Winneshiek County since I can't remember when, and we aren't expecting its appearance until at least next Sunday, so in the meantime we'll have to make do with these bright little goldfinches sitting in the sky.
I first want very much to apologize for yesterday's post, and if I offended anyone or made anyone uncomfortable that was not my intention at all but felt it was part of the image and being a wildlife photo sometimes it is what it is. So that said I'm sorry.
In the meantime in all scenarios so far the lens performed as expected and am very happy with this purchase. Have a great day and thank you for stopping by always very much appreciated.
Dear friends,
I lost my Father last Wednesday.Although he was eighty five years old he was more or less in good health and his leaving us so suddenly was a shock.I was very far away at the time and I am yet to accept the fact that I shall never see him again. He was always a good friend with whom I shared everything and I feel very, very lonely now.
In the meantime Sanjay's transfer to Kolkata has come.So for the next few weeks we will be busy shifting from Shimla to Kolkata.I have to take a break from Flickr and I shall miss you all very much.I hope to return sometime in the month of August.Bye for now my friends and take care.

I wish I was a pirate shipwreck down in Mexico
Where the oceans turn to silver and the beaches turn to gold
I'd make love to some senorita in that town
I'd get on my boat and I'd sail the ocean round
I wish I was a pirate out there under my own flag
Running for no reason and no reason to turn back
The salt and rum on my tongue, sails tattered and torn
Laughing in the devil's face, riding out the storm
Ooh, one of these days
Gonna get off of this highway
Wake up in Sun Bay
With the sunshine on my face
Saint Christopher on a silver chain
Say a prayer and sail away
