This little dress began life as a maxi, almost down to the ankles. I really liked the pattern but a maxi style would never do for this girl.
So I broke out my trusty Singer sewing machine and an hour or so later, voila!
Not a true mini but it hits right above the knee as it should.
The Renault 5 Maxi Turbo is one of my all-time favorite vehicles and certainly one that cemented in my (then) young brain the idea of cramming a large, powerful motor into a tiny flexible package to create an entirely new kind of wonderfully freakish monster.
With this build I was particularly focused on wanting the rear air intakes to be brick-built and have actual visual depth, and I wanted the rear to be wider than the front which is a key visual trait of this car. That led me to the idea of attempting the build as a 6-wide front and 7-wide rear.
Interplay between the 6-wide and 7-wide sections created room to take advantage of some nice offsets for the rear hatch, both vertical and horizontal, as well as to find nice positions for the tail lamps and the rear venting. As always with SC scale, this is a mere caricature of the glorious original, but the madness of this little beast is evident.
On the detailing front, I used graphic inserts for the fog lights, headlights and tails to help give some definition and pump up the texture just a bit. Giving the car more dimension and scale detail in this way is a technique I’m increasingly happy with.
I hope you enjoy!

"What is there to be found in those caves?"
The woman asked the flying man who appeared as though a darkened angel, with a crooked crown on his head.
"Follow me, and I'll show you.."

Thought I would kill half a dozen birds with one massive bolder by catering for boot, maxi dress, dark hair and boob lovers all in one photo!
I have a dilemma! my brother is having a party tomorrow night in a bar down in London and I said I might go. problem is who do I go as. He knows and accepts Helen as does his partner and it would be a blast to go as Helen, However a lot of his friends who also know me have never seen Helen and while their reaction won't be bad my presence might make them feel awkward! or am I just being over sensitive?
Only other thing is what the heck would I wear???
A lot to like here: the primer and filler on the wing, the BL badge, the flat suspension, pool of oil underneath and of course the colour. This is pretty much how I remember Maxis in the late 80s / early 90s. Currently on SORN, but the tax disc in the windscreen expired July 2002.
This was quite a surprising spot as its only ten minutes walk from my house. I was thinking earlier that I'd pretty much exhausted my immediate local area for potential finds, but it just goes to show what's still lurking out there!
My sister's pretty girl. I love her eyes and the fact that compared to my two she is absolutely tiny!
It's a beautiful Saturday and I've gone for a maxi chambray denim skirt over petticoats to start the day in.
As others have said previously, a maxi skirt can be the ideal garment to wear in hot weather as it can keep one's legs cool underneath it.
Warming up a summer skirt
Maxi skirts are a favorite in the summer because they are cool, yet modest. With a little layering, though, there’s no reason I can’t wear my summer maxis in the winter.
A maxi and leggings is a win all around. The leggings keep me warm and the maxi skirt avoids the whole “are leggings pants or not?” conversation.

The Maxi Dance carnival ride at the Rota Feria. Of all the rides this year, this one had great colors and was constantly changing. A second ride, Nuvem is in the background.
