Seit 1963 war die 6. Polytechnische Oberschule (POS) hier ansässig, deren Räumlichkeiten ab dem 10. August 1992 im Filialbetrieb als Oberstufenzentrum genutzt wurden.
Die Gründung des "Oberstufenzentrum Versorgungs- und Reinigungstechnik" folgte am 1. August 1994, die Namensgebung zur "Max-Taut-Schule" am 29. August 1997.
